Need ideas for girlfriend's 30th birthday
I'll be buying stuff more specifically geared to her interests, but can anyone suggest anything in general.
I'll be doing flowers and all, but there has to be somethingbetter.

8. 30th birthdays are special, so...
..you are smart to want to do a little extra.

I'd have to know her better to suggest something specific.

I threw my husband a surprise 30th birthday party and he still says (11 years later) it was the best birthday he ever had! Good luck!

11. Not sure if this would work for you...
Edited on Wed Oct-25-06 12:05 AM by gr8dane_daddy
but I once took an ex back to her childhood town she grew up in as a surprise. She got to eat at her favorite places, see playgrounds and parks she played in, and do whatever she wanted to there. She relived fond memories that day and talked about it for hours. I could tell she really enjoyed it.

14. I'd like it if my husband surpised me with that!
But I'd want to stay for more than a day since my town is clear across the US.
When I visit my mom and brothers it's fun to go to the childhood places to see what's changed, and what remains the same.

12. I got my first real Barbie (and her horse) when I turned 30.
I never played with dolls much (tomboy) but me and Barbie apparently are the same age plus that year was when the western version came out with the horse. Crap I can't even remember it's name now. I wonder where I pust them?

19. A cool idea, depending on how long you've been together.
My friend had this idea but never actioned it, he was going to do it himself for his own birthday but if you did it for your girlfriend she would just melt.

Contact her mates and family (see, this is why it depends how well you know her) and create a compilation CD and photo/picture album to commemorate the occaision. Make it a 'limited release' only 30 copies to be sent to 30 friends/family as many of whom as possible should attend the 'launch party' for the album/cd on said 30th Birthday.

You could choose how to do it, 1 song from each year or 30 songs that mean something to her and/or her and one of her mates (a song they used to listen to a lot or shared good times to) and a selection of photos and images to go with the songs.

She will think you are the best thing in the world, as will all her friends and family who will have copies of the beautiful thing you did for someone dear to them!

Not gonna happen for me next year, I'll bet, but I think it's a wonderfully thoughtful idea!

29. In my family it's like a tradition but only for old folk.
At 50th wedding anniversary, 80th Birthday etc everyone chips in some pictures and writes nice memories about the person/couple.

But wouldn't it be nice at a younger age and from a boyfriend and more than one copy.

I have been working on something like this for my boyfriend for about a year now, a scrapbook of our trip round South America, tickets, brochures, photos etc. I am just too lazy to finish the damn thing.

I would seriously melt if he did something like that for me too, but I will ceratinly pass out and probably pass away if I hold my breath waiting!!! He he

22. A cane
Maybe a walker. Oh, a clock with a big second hand to make sure she can hear her life ticking away. You know, something funny like that.

By the way, I hate clocks for that very reason. Nothing more than a constant reminder that you must do something now or else you're a waste of life.

Tell her happy birthday from me though.

26. I just turned 28 last week

But seriously, I'm not a fan of our artificial concept of time.

I'll get you something good though. A hearing aid, a personalized burial plot. Something to help, something constructive.

28. Break up with her two days before her birthday...
...then get back together two weeks later that way you won't have to buy anything

Just kidding, seriously none of us knows anything about her to offer much advice. A nice dinner out is what MrsDTW likes a lot.
