Why all the hate for NASCAR?

I mean, not all of the NASCAR fans are freeper fundies....many are just people who like car racing.

As for me, I don't *get* NASCAR, but I don't vilify those who do. I don't *get* basketball either, and I know a lot of people don't *get* Baseball.

It's not too obnoxious. It's a grand cherokee and I can't afford the insurance on my Saab. My stepdad gave me one of his "corporate" Jeeps. It might be an SUV, but it was a free car when I needed one. I'm not turning that down to the basis of "liberal" morals.

I'm not a NASCAR fan at all. Most of the NASCAR fans around here are Repukes, and it gets obnoxious when that's all you can find on local TV. However, if someone else enjoys it, let them. Just leave me out of it.

My grandfather was a sprint car racer in the 40's and 50's, so I learned to appreciate all kinds of auto racing growing up.

I am not crazy about NASCAR, compared to my love of baseball, football, and hoops, but I enjoy it. They do have their share of idiot fans, but what sport doesn't?

I have concluded that people who like NASCAR and people who hate NASCAR have completely different brain configurations--not better or worse, just different.

I even have some anecdotal evidence. The wife of a man who had a severe head injury stated that her husband had changed since he was injured. Before, he had hated NASCAR, and afterward, he became a big fan.

20. i don't hate it, i just ridicule it....here's why

a guy can be leading the whole race, then another guy comes up and intentionally bumps him off the track in the last lap...the bumped off guy can then finish 30th and lose shitloads of points in the "race for the cup" and basically have no chance left...

a guy can win way more races than anyone else in the season and still finish low in the "race for the cup" because he got bumped off the track a few times during the year

in short, they have a really shitty scoring system that rewards luck and mediocrity rather than winning races

So damn boring. I've been to Pocono when they used the "Road Track" and even that was a bore. Road courses are so much more interesting
