Mr. kt and I found the dumbest invention ever. The Fish Toilet.
Edited on Wed Oct-25-06 01:53 PM by Kerrytravelers
It's not a toilet for fishes, but rather a very stupid tank for fish. It's an actual toilet that doubles as a fish tank. According to the site, it is a "Safe, fish-friendly aquarium for your bathroom that converts your toilet into a nautical wonderland." A nautical wonderland. Yep, you read that correctly. A nautical wonderland.

Here are some pics I took of the display at the Los Angeles County Fair.

Here is the sign behind the display.

And a close up of this stupidity.

From their website:
www.fishnflush.com

The cost of this? You may need to sit down for this. Preferably not on a Fish N Flush toilet. Try a regular chair.

$450.00.

Here is a humorous take on this idiocy:
http://www.thrillist.com/archives/2006/07/number_one_fish_number_two_fish.html

What gets me isn't the actual toilet, but the fact that there are so many things in this would that needs improvement, so many places in the world that could benefit from the mind of inventors... and we get the Fish N Flush. There was actual money spent on R&D and marketing for this.

12. That's what I want to know
 That's just wierd. And wouldn't the fish fall down the drain?

Though it is a bit eccentric, I personally don't want to add another thing to the bathroom that requires cleaning.

16. I was also curious. There are two separate tanks.
So, the fish don't actually get flushed. And I'm with you... one more thing in the bathroom to clean- no thank you!

7. I could see paying $450 for a beautiful tank for a collection of fishes.
But for a toilet? Good heavens.

10. $450 is for a small tank setup.
I went over a $1,000 setting up a 55 gallon. I didn't splurge on it and I don't consider that a large tank.

That tank is far too small for goldfish though. I would probably use it for a breeding pair of some shell-dweller cichlids from Lake Tanganikya.

6. I kind of like it.
Would definitely bring a bit of flair to the dull crapper.

8. I guess I've never spent that much time in the crapper.

Take a book- it's cheaper! :P

And when you're sitting, you can't see what's behind you anyways.

But, it certainly brings flair- and a lot of conversation. I know Mr. kt and I would be talking about your bathroom!

14. I realize that. But unless you take ten minute pee breaks, you in and out.
$450 is kind of a lot for something so silly that you're not going to spend a lot of time with.

18. In my head, I hear Lewis Black saying
"nautical wonderland" about 10 times. Each more hilarious than the previous. I just finished listening to his new CD.
