One year ago today...
Ok, I lie. It was a year ago last week, but I kinda missed the anniversary...

I moved out here to Los Angeles and started my new job!

I cannot freaking believe that it's already been a year.

Thank you all for your support. It's been a crazy year, but I love it here. I even love my job (most of the time).

So, I believe there's a Lounge rule: Ask me anything!

2. Thanks!
Overall I'm loving it here. Especially right about this time of year, when I get to think that 70 degrees is cold! ;)

9. It was about the same time that I became an unpaid slacker!
It was that available time that led us to start communicating more often. So, it's true. All good things came from this move to LA. ;)

back in the days when neither of us was that busy. Sigh.

It is true though...many, many good things have come from moving here.

12. We did!
Well, 'cept for that 10 hour stint in the ER. But that was really only sucky for you. My good buddy morphine ensured that I really don't remember it at all.

Otherwise, yes, definitely good times. ;)

13. Well, there were parts of that early morning that weren't bad.
I learned that, under stress, I can hear directions once and follow them to the letter. In a strange city. LA at that.

The ancient magazines, strange people and awful TV in the waiting room? I could have done without those. I have to say that the receptionist was really nice though.

17. And you can
find a randomly placed cell phone in the dark with very little direction.

I'm glad the receptionist was nice. I vaguely remember that my nurse was a bitch. But she gave me the morphine, so I forgave her.

32. Well, in all honesty, it's just 30 minutes on the weekdays.
Weekends are weights and cardio. Weekdays are just cardio. I'm probably 5-10 lbs lighter than when I was there last. :)

28. La la la lalala
nothing to see here...move along...

No really, it's not that exciting of a story.

When I first moved here, I went jogging on this residential street because it was nice/safe/easy to get to...and it was a nice hill, so you know, cardio and all that.

I found out, while running on Halloween last year, that Allison Janney and Janel Maloney live on that street.

...yes, I have gone back a few times...

;)

38. I'm a huge fan as well
which is why I didn't mind it when Allison's dog almost tripped me or when Janel's dog jumped on me.

It worked well for me because then I actually had an excuse to speak to them...without looking like a stupid fangirl.

37. People are really very nice
I was expecting the people to be really standoffish and rude. For the most part they're not. And they're actually very helpful to people who are new to the city...assuming that you're at least trying to figure things out.

39. Most of the people who live in Los Angeles are from someplace else.
I have lived in Los Angeles for 14 years (yikes!) and have always found the people here to be quite friendly. Of course, there are exceptions.

It sounds like it might be time for another Los Angeles DUer get together!!!

42. Yes, totally!
We definitely need an LA DU get together. I know there are tons of us out here, but I've only met a few. Perhaps we should organize one after the holidays.

And you're right about most people being from somewhere else. I actually met a woman whose family was among the first settlers...you know, before the gold rush, etc. Her family history was fascinating, actually. I told her she was quite the rarity!

43. Not as much as I would like to.
The first 6 months or so that I lived here, I went about once a week. Now I'm sad to say that I haven't been since late August. (of course, I swear the last time I looked at a calender it WAS late August...)

The beach is about 45 minutes away so it definitely requires a fairly sizeable block of time. But still, I have no excuse. I love it there, and really should make the effort to go more often.
