Letter from LexisNexis...scam? |
|
I just got a letter (NOT an e-mail) from LexisNexis telling me that an employee's laptop was lost which MAY contain personal info about me, S/S #, drivers license #, etc.
They wish to help me avoid the possibility of suffering credit fraud/ID theft by hooking me up with Equifax online who will put a fraud alert on my account, among other things. They say it will cost me nothing. Any body else gotten this?
Color me paranoid. :scared:

1. Call them on the phone. |
|
Look up their phone # directly on the web by typing in their url. Then ask about this. That's my 2cents.

3. Well, I guess it's real. |
|
Their website lists about the same stuff that was in the letter. Contact Equifax and all. I feel kinda...nekkid? :-(

4. Good grief! Why does Lexis even need that info? |
