Today in history 10-26
I will apologize up front. I got busy at work and for some reason these people here think I owe them a good day's work. x(

I really didn't get to work on these and do them right.

1998 - Shock-rock glam band Marilyn Manson kicks off its highly anticipated Mechanical Animals tour in Kansas City, Mo., without incident.

In July 2005, Manson told Rolling Stone Magazine that he was shifting his focus from music to filmmaking - "I just don't think the world is worth putting music into right now. I no longer want to make art that other people--particularly record companies--are turning into a product. I just want to make art."
Translated, this really means "Now that all my fans have graduated elementary school and are attending high school, I can no longer sell any music."

2001 - Michael Jackson took part in a webchat on his official website.

Do I really need to come up with something for this one?

1981 - Queen and David Bowie record "Under Pressure" in Montreaux, Switzerland.

This session breaks into a cat fight between Bowie and Mercury when the two struggle with each other over a piece of equipment they both want to use at the same time. All becomes well again when a roadie is sent out to purchase a second eyelash curler.

1881 - The gunfight at the OK Corral took place in Tombstone, Ariz., as Wyatt Earp, his two brothers and ''Doc'' Holliday confronted Ike Clanton's gang. Three members of Clanton's gang were killed; Earp's brothers were wounded.

Legend has it that while dining at the Gum Drop Inn, which locals called GD, Billy Clanton noticed that his chicken was coated in a breading made of corn and flakes. Billy threw the food on the floor while screaming obscenities which brought out the chef of the day Virgil Earp. Virgil went for his gun, but Billy got away and ran down the street to the Red Barn Lounge to summons his buddies Frank McLaury, Tom McLaury, Ike Clanton and Billy Claiborne.

Meanwhile, back in GD, Virgil had gathered Wyatt Earp, Morgan Earp, and Doc Holliday who had been in the back room discussing the possibility of banning children from the Gum Drop Inn.

As all the men gathered at the O.K. Corral, Wyatt Earp called Tom McLaury a "troll" and the bullets started a flyin'. In the end Billy Clanton, Frank McLaury and Tom McLaury were tombstoned, and Ike Clanton and Billy Claiborne were put on ignore.

1951 - Happy Birthday Bootsy Collins.

Below, Bootsy (in the background) and George Clinton minutes after robbing Huggy Bear's dressing room.

2005 - Ashlee Simpson tops the album charts with I Am Me.

What made this CD remarkable is that it starts playing even before you put it in your CD player.

1980 - During a recording session, Jefferson Starship's Paul Kantner suffers a stroke. He later makes a full recovery after spending two weeks in a Los Angeles hospital.

It has since been learned that Kantner was fine earlier in the day until Grace Slick played him the demo of the new song they would be working on. The name of the song was "We Built This City". It is believed that this is what caused Kantner's stroke.

Below is Kantner and ummm Grace?
