HELP!!
I cooked a tasty, hearty Portugese fish stew a couple of nights ago.

Now my house smells like a full-grown Orca took a dump in my living room.

I've tried air freshener, burning scented candles...it still smells like the dumpster behind Red Lobster.

What can I do?

Seriously, though, I can't think of anything that gets rid of the fish smell in any good way except for open windows and time, or opening a quart size container of natto.

Though I suppose if you were to burn some chocolate, that might cover up the fish smell.

I've seen commercials for some kind of room deodorizer that actually destroys the atoms causing the smell, instead of just covering them up with its own smell - though I have no idea if it works.

On edit: I wonder, since saffron has such a strong smell, if putting it on a potpourri burner, or just making a big bowl of saffron soup, would be enough to cover up the smell. This is a pricey experiment, though. But it could be worth a try.

2. But was the stew worth it?

Sorry to hear about that. My solution to stink-fish home is to open all the windows, turn on the fans and bleach the kitchen to death.

Anyways, weren't you sick? To bad you didn't loose your sense of smell for a while.

3. I just now regained my sense of smell
it was no problem until today.

now? :puke:

I love to cook. It was a struggle while I was sick, but the ingredients wouldn't have waited another day.

It tasted good that night. Now I'm afraid to heat up any of the leftovers . . .
