It's impossible to watch a ball game and not favor one club
The Truth just came out when St. Louis tied it and I thought, "Shit." I realized I'm pulling for Detroit, and it's because I learned yesterday that Jeff Suppan is an asspipe.

1. I could do it.
I don't watch or like any sport. I could draw straws and be content with whoever I picked. :P

2. very true
I told myself I wouldn't care about this series but yet I'm rooting for Detroit too and now I have yet another reason to dislike Jeff Suppan

9. The pine tar didn't bother me
I think it's stupid that the spitter (generic term) is illegal.

16. Ah, see
I liked the higher mound because I like close, low-scoring games; I like Little Ball.

Gibson's 1.12 ERA in '68 is the stat that most makes me go . That's a lot more undogly to me than 73 stupid homers.

18. Then we're on the same page
We both want pitching to reclaim its lost glory. Today it's all fastballs punctuated by the odd curveball or breaking ball. There is no art or finesse...

20. You just made me realize
when I see a curve ball that drops off the table, it's like "Wow!" But, christ, guys like Koufax used to throw 20 or 30 of those every game.

One time Sal Maglie had a really good game and a writer asked him what he threw. "Ninety-seven snappers," he said.

Yeah.

Dammit. How many hits does Eckstein have in this game? Twenty-three?

22. Yep - I find that when I have no attachment to the teams, I tend to pull for
whichever team is losing when I turn on the game...
