I was supposed to be born May 2, but waited until May 12 - which is my mom's birthday! What a gift she got.

15. I was a month overdue
And really - why come out? I had everything I needed in my womb-room. Food and ambient music piped in. Soft rubber-room to kick and bounce around in. Yeah, I had it made in there. They had to send a search party to come drag me out.

And I've been pissed off about it ever since. :grr:

I said, ok, you have 12 days to move yourself and all of your belongings out, after that all utilities are being shut down, and I am going to start drinking! I'm due Nov. 8th, first kid.

I was almost 3 weeks late and my husband was 3 weeks late. Hopefully, she doesn't take after either of us.

23. 36 days late and mom NEVER let me forget it!
About three weeks after my due date they even tried to induce her with drugs. 99% of the time that works. In my poor moms case, she endured hours of cramping and contractions but still went home at the end of the day with me in her belly.

They finally scheduled a C-Section to take me out manually, and as luck would have it she went into labor two hours before her appointment time. She never let me forget that she was in labor nearly two days AFTER that point too (45 hours of labor).

What can I say, I was a stubborn kid :)

Edited on Fri Oct-27-06 04:56 PM by Bunny
She was supposed to be born on 12/21, and I had visions of bringing my new baby home just in time for Christmas. No good. Then I thought she'd be born on Christmas Day. Fat chance. When that didn't work out, I hoped that she'd be the New Year's Baby. No luck there, either. She strolled in on January 3, finally. :eyes:

My second girl was just one day late, so that wasn't too bad.

I'm not sure how late I was, but I think I was at least a week or so overdue.

53. LOL!
My DD, according to the Dr., was due Sept. 15. I, only being the *mother* and the one that got pregnant, knew I was due the last week of August. They went in and hauled her scrawny butt (5lbs 7 oz) out on Sept. 13. She was so darn skinny and you could tell she had lost weight and was *way* over due.

They dragged my DS's breech butt out 10 days early. He was 8 lbs 7 oz and due on Christmas Day. The listened to me when I told them that I *knew* when he was due after the experience with DD.

38. I was 1 full month late and
I was born in the middle of the night. I was due in early July, but I decided to finish growing my full head of hair and some fingernails so I could come out clawing.

My mother was watching a Tom Jones concert on television the night she went into labor and didn't want to leave without watching the rest of the concert. My aunt said she'd meet her at the hospital when she decided to get there. My mother and my other aunt finished watching the Tom Jones concert before she would go to the hospital.

Maybe that's why I always asked for "one more song" before I went to bed as a kid and snuck back up to listen to music all hours of the night. Hell, I still do it in a way. I will post one more post before going to bed or listen to one more song or both now.

1970.

My mother had severe toxemia and was flat on her back with me from the end of June till September 18. She was in the hospital for so long, she knew every mother of every kid my age in town. :silly:

Back then (according to her) the maternity ward was run like a women's prison. She was allowed few visitors, no cable tv, no baths, no sugar or sweets, absolutely no salt. She lived on eggs, grits and dry toast for 2 months. She was allowed one spoonful of lime sherbet a day.

She was sick as a dog (has never let me forget it, either...:eyes:). She was scheduled for a c-section but her doc thought I'd have a better chance if I was born vaginally. My mom nearly slapped his face when he told her what his plan was. I was born at 6:20 am, by noon that day she was walking around and feeling like a million bucks. I weighed 3 pounds, 3 ounces. They had to cut the premie diapers in half to fit me.

Her doctor didn't think either of us would make it. Told my dad as he was signing my birth certificate, "Now Jack, we won't be doing this again, ya hear?"

That's how I was born-ded :hi:

edit to add: I was so early, I didn't have fingernails yet. :freak:
