Which commercial aggrevates you the most? |
|
Edited on Sat Oct-28-06 06:52 PM by HypnoToad
I saw this ad today for Idaho potatoes; hyped up by this big smile with big hair known as some celebrity.
Potatoes are high in starch and carbs and not good for dieters; so I was surprised to see 30 seconds of trim tan woman prattling about potatoes.
She makes it sound as if I ought to go out and buy 8 pounds of them and make french fries... (what the hell, I'd rather gain 20 pounds than lose them... :eyes: )
(BTW: I am merely expounding on an advert for Idaho potatoes. This is not meant to become a thread reminding all Idapostho... )

3. Lipozene - "It's not your fault" - and what the hell is that on her left cheekbone? |
|
A cheek implant gone bad? The remnants of an old accident? It looks like someone has implanted a tile underneath the skin of her face.

4. "Yesterday my friends convinced me to smoke weed... |
|
Today they convinced me I could outrun Killer, the junkyard dog. Maybe I should stop listening to my friends"
This commercial, and the entire group that have been running for about 6 months or so convince me of only one thing. That 1 in 10 pot smokers is a spineless doof who can be convince to do anything for the amusement of the other 9. Don't be that guy! And, yes, he should probably stop listening to his friends, grow a pair, and not do things just because someone tells him to. I know people who do that without weed!
Stupid, dumbass, PFDFA, lying sack of....

Remember, the guy who started the whole carbs will kill you thing died young and obese after a heart attack and probably a stroke.

Interestingly, there was a study that showed that a vegan diet worked better for managing diabetes than the ADA diet plan. But in any case, I seem to recall that Hypno, who has been tested for everything under the sun, is not diabetic. He can eat potatoes and provided he doesn't fry them or douse them in something oily they are actually a fairly healthy thing to eat.

I've kept an eye on glucose levels and everything is quite ducky. (though I've got be careful not to let it get too low, which has happened periodically...)
If they only made french fries that weren't pre-soaked in oil...

12. I cut the potatoes thin, season them and bake them on a silicone sheet |
|
Edited on Sat Oct-28-06 06:52 PM by LeftyMom
Unlike a regular pan, they won't burn on the silicone, so you can cook them until they're crispy.

13. I was responding to what looked to be a generic "Potatoes are fine for you." |
|
I misunderstood, and see now, that it was actually "Potatoes are fine for you." - addressed only to HypnoToad.

16. Yeah, it really wasn't intended as blanket nutritional advice |
|
I try not to give too much of that, if for no other reason than that between food allergies and being vegan so little of the blanket advice out there applies to me...

20. I understand what you mean, and I've seen convincing indications of |
|
problems with the diebetic diet, in some areas. However, I've also seen how potatoes raise my BGL, so I pointed it out.

15. OMG! I hate that one for Comcast Pay-per-View movies. |
|
It is so annoying! It's the one with the animated popcorn, etc., singing and dancing like the old drive-in theater ads. The song is enough to make me want to throw a brick at the TV.
