Being single is great because...
name something great about it for those of us who are single and loving it!

Mmmm, I get to have all the cookies to myself.

1. Depends how you define cookies...
but that aside, I can spend all my money on me. I needn't give a damn about anyone else. Or have to remember things (a shame as I like to remember things).

More time for hobbies and furthering education, so my employer won't have to spend time and money training me on the job.

It's a bit depressing when you add it all up, but I like to give it a positive spin.

It's better than dying of a broken heart, or the coronary problems proven to be related to long-term loneliness as our media enjoys bellowing in their articles... :D

and then be all depressed at your being mangled in a car wreck. :)

7. LOL. Most people wouldn't know I'd ever have existed...
Rather like the night I got my high school diploma. Everyone else got lots of applause. Despite being in the top 25%... but I should have been used to that at the time too. :)

So no worries from me on being mangled in a car wreck either. I'd normally look forward to one, but I'd worry that the car would be destroyed. 'tis a lovely car... :)

2. here's a good one:
there is no one here to nag me about cleaning the house today.

Unfortunately, the house really needs cleaning, and there's no one here to nag me about cleaning it today.

Maybe I'll hire a maid; that would inspire me to clean house, so they wouldn't think OMG! what a pig this person is...

:dilemma:

6. You get to answer fun questions at parties
"So, do you have kids in the school too?" :eyes:

Maybe it's just my age group.

You can focus on work. You can walk the dogs pretty much whenever you want to. No one uses up all the clean coffee mugs but you. And should you run out of TP whilst on the potty, hey, it's your own damn fault. No one's coming to your rescue on that one.

You get to cook large meals, and enjoy them as leftovers for days on end. Sensible and thrifty. No waste of electricity or heat, you come home and them lights are off. Leave a glass on your desk, it's there until you move it. Same with the trash can, no one else is gonna bring that sucker in.

No waiting for the bathroom, toothpaste, or clothes dryer. No having to fold anyone else's clothes.

Choices on matters of color, style and taste are all up to you. No negotiation, no chance of being proven wrong later.

When that phone rings, hey, it's for you! Mostly, anyhow. So get excited about that ring.

Also, you get to leave the television on for some background noise.

it's either a) a telemarketer (rare now that I am on the no-call list, but that still allows The Nation and the DNC to call me for money) or b) a wrong number.

I hate phones.

You'll never know how many dreams
I've dreamed about you
Or just how empty they all seemed without you
So kiss me once, then kiss me twice
Then kiss me once again
It's been a long, long time

Oh, kiss me once...and kiss me twice
Then kiss me once again
It's been a long...such, a long time
I haven't felt like this my dear
Since I don't remember when
It's been a long....been a mighty long time

You'll never know how many dreams
I've dreamed about you
Or how empty they all seem without you
So kiss me once...and kiss me twice
And kiss me once again
It's been a long...long time

It's been a mighty, mighty long time

19. Hmmm. Being Single.......
I dumped my cheating lying partner last October (has it been a year already?). I don't like it. I'm one of those people that thrives with another person in my life, but I won't settle for anything less than what I want. I'm picky and have been dating alot of losers lately. One guy........Glenn was his name, was a real possibility, but he was more committed to his career than anything else. When does the bullshit ever end? If ever?

How do people end up with lying, cheating bastards?!

Sadly, my friend, it never ends.

We're all picky, and even when we think we've found the right person... we're reminded in one form or another that they, like ourselves, are still human.

Still, you're dating. That's a good thing. It's the only way to find the right person -- to look. Even though people say don't look, it'll come when it's ready. (circular logic makes me dizzy, you see...)

My philosophy is; find somebody sufficiently suitable and live with the differences. If the core values are in agreeance (building a life together, fidelity, et al), then the differences can be worked out.

30. Usually...
There is a side of me you haven't seen. I do have certain emotional flaws brought about due to environmental chaos during upbringing, the core issue being a PDD that has no cure (Asperger's Syndrome). I, inadvertantly and unwittingly, end up trying the best out of people I know. It's not deliberate, but it has been a problem for my social life.

There is an aspect of bipolar malfunction that has crept in as well. The drug I just stopped taking works, except the side-effects were bothersome. I also found out the hard way there were physiological withdrawl effects, none of which was pleasant.

Still, with my debt paid off I'll finally be able to travel in 2007. :woohoo: I'm long overdue for a proper holiday... oops, vacation, I've been watching too much BBC again...

I've heard of Ottawa... colder climate. Which is a plus...

I do need to try the trileptal again; it works though the side-effects have been trying. (and going off of it led to some nasty withdrawl symptoms, the likes I never would have anticipated.)

50. I love coming home to an empty house
and having totally unstructured time, playing talk radio shows long past sleepytime, having dinner at 5 and dinner #2 at 8:30 if I feel like it, having NO TV IN THE HOUSE, getting up at 4 and not having to talk to anybody nor have to worry about what time I should fill the bath tub, and and and . . .

Oh, and what Robb said is one of my favorite things: "You get to cook large meals, and enjoy them as leftovers for days on end." Don't have to think about What Somebody Else Would Like to Eat before I decide what to whip up for a meal. It doesn't have to be normal --- EVER. I don't have to know whether I WANT to eat dinner or not.

Nobody else's SNORING!

Nobody telling ME that I SNORE!

If I don't pick up my mess it's MINE. If somebody else doesn't pick up their mess -- it's not HERE.

I can leave the door open and the heat off and put on a sweater if I feel like it.

Not too many people would find me a compatible live-in partner! <<<LOL!>>>

If I tried to live with someone again I'd want my own bedroom and my own bathroom and someone who hates TV and is not in the least bit codependent. Time apart is as important as time together.

Sheesh, after writing all this down I figure I really DON'T ever want to find anyone again! But it sounds like that's normal too : )

No compromise over food, entertainment, or use of time.

No line for the bathroom.

No tolerating time, energy, and $$ spent on pursuits I don't care for, and no listening to someone talk about them all the time.

No deferring to others' opinions or choices about fashion, decor, or anything else in life.
