Rant: I AM OFFICIALLY SICK AND TIRED OF POLITICS!!!!!! |
|
Yes, I'm screaming. You're in the DU Lounge, too, so you must understand what I mean.
It's just too much to anticipate the countdown to Election Day.
I watched "Meet the Press" and I am going to swear off all of the rest of the BS until IT IS OVER.
Let's hope that Tuesday, November 7th, and not the middle of next year....
Good night and good luck.

1. WELL IT'S A GOOD THING THE LOUNGE HAS.... |
|
PADDED WALLS...OR THIS WOULD HURT OUR EARS!
Seriously, I pretty much swore off politics (except for an occasional volunteer stint and voting) since Nov. 2004. You lasted a lot longer than I did!! :pals:

2. Wow! That's amazing! I wonder how many hours I've wasted on politics |
|
since 2004.
It's almost as addicting as sports...
Thanks for the post.
Sorry for the capital letters. I did it for effect...

3. Hey, I was just teasing you about the caps |
|
When I first started posting on forums I didn't even know you weren't supposed to! It took me about 3 posts, using all caps, and people asking why I was yelling at them for me to realize what I was doing!!

4. Politics can be as annoying as a freeper at a spelling bee, but karma will get them in the end. |
|
Do what you need to be well.
I hope you're still going to vote, though.
I don't know that politics is ever over, but I hope it will be less stressful after Nov 7.

5. We're in Oregon -- a "vote by mail" state. We're working on it tonight. |
|
After that, I'm going to concentrate on ME and I don't mean Maine!
Getting my car repaired tomorrow -- someone smushed my bumper but it's going to be "airbrushed" instead of being replaced.
Going to Macy's to use up a coupon that expires on 10/31.
Hubby will drag me to Home Depot in his car -- but that's OK.
Then I'm going to concentrate on other things until the final stroke of midnight on 11/07/06. Unless we're winning, of course, because then we can gloat all over the place...
Thanks Philosophie -- how have you been? There are so many people here now it's like a BIG village...

7. After we vote, it's out of our hands. |
|
I'm voting absentee, as well. It should be interesting to see who wins. Lots of drama in my local elections, that's for sure.
I don't know that I'm sick of politics, but I do feel exhausted. At this point, I don't think I can personally change anyone's mind about the election.
I know what you mean about DU! I used to remember practically everyone, but it's really hard to keep track now. On the up side, it's really hard to keep a grudge, when I can't remember who flamed me. :)

8. "Out of our hands" is right. We have to give over control to "the counters" |
|
whoever they are. I don't envy their jobs, but we've been told by Democrats in Washington County that there are representatives of BOTH parties at these count sessions who do their best to ensure an accurate election. We are "blue" in the western part of the state and decidedly "red" in other parts of the state to the east.
The best way I can explain it is that feeling the few days before I have surgery. I've made my decision, and I've given over the whole sElection process to others to implement. I am just going to try and keep calm while doing the more mundane things of the last part of October, like giving out candy to the kiddos. That's always fun in our neighborhood.
Can't keep track of individual DUers any more. I have a hard time remembering my OWN name, much less those of 95,000 other people. You're right, it's better that way.
Thanks for your comments.

14. I hope it will be, too. If the Dems win, maybe there'll be a big uplifting feeling. |
|
But any losses will cause more depression.
This last week is almost intolerable. I've shifted to listening to music on the radio or on disk -- and skimming lots of books. I can't stand any more.

9. OK, so I am not the only one. |

Everything just seems so one sided.
All of the ads and mail are driving me nuts.
November 7th can't come soon enough!!

15. The ads are disgusting. We have initiatives here in Oregon and |
|
there is just so much money being spent for ALL categories. It really makes me wonder about this whole Democratic system.

Many here may not realize it, but I do have a life outside of politics. A wife, daughter, her family, grandson, another on the way, a house, the local Wolf Bay Watershed Watch, the Friends of the Library, FOOD!, and, last but not least, and ongoing interest in Scotch whiskey.
I'll be damned glad when this one is over and I can take a breather. YESSSSS!

16. Hi, Trof! I don't drink, but all the other things sound great! |
|
I've rediscovered music cassette tapes I haven't heard in a bunch of years.
Tomorrow, I begin my annual Halloween to Christmas shape up, including diet, exercise, massage, and wrapping gifts to give away at the radio station.
Regrettably, this looks like the last fully sunny day for a while here in Portland. We get winter rains and they usually start October 1 -- this year, it looks like November 1 is the target date.

Wednesday will be the last day of watching news until after the elections. Plus I plan to avoid DU after this weekend until next week when things aren't in such a state of panic. lol
I just can't deal with the stress :P
Now... how about a valium?

18. well, I just go and phone bank and help out in small doses |
|
I don't watch the shows, except on PBS, since I think that they just upset people. The small and quiet efforts are the ones that really make a difference, not all the speculation.
