CBN, the old General Audience Cable outlet for Pat RObertson... |
|
Showed Blazing saddles one afternoon...
I watched as it is one of the classic comedy movies of all time...
Well, being that it was CBN, I was expecting a little editing...
So I was not that suprised when they cut out the Fart scene...
But I was surprised when the left in the "Sheriff is a N****r" Scene....
If they were really about "christian values", don't you think it should have been reversed...

1. You know, I never saw that one....... |
|
And I always hear good things about it, too......
One of these days, I'll have to rent it, or buy it or something......
My fav of that type movie is "Young Frankenstein!"
My husband and I quote lines from it to each other!

2. Ever see the edited-for-teevee version of 'American Graffiti'? |
|
In the quick scene where the guy says to Toad while he's driving Steve's '58 Chevy, "Jeez, what a waste of machinery," they changed "Jeez" to "Saayyy."

I've seen it at least 20 times on teevee.
Another one: At the end of the drag-race scene near the end of the film, when Toad says "Jeeesus, what a night!" they changed "Jeeesus" to a yawn.

3. I was watching 'Fast Times at Ridgemont High' |
|
on some cable station (probably TBS or TNT) a few nights ago.
In the scene where Spicoli is having his surfing dream and is talking to Stu Nahan, he says:
"Those guys are fat!"
and in the stupidest edit I've seen in a while, the word 'fat' was changed to 'fools'
I hate editing movies. I'd rather them bleep or blank than to overdub.

7. This reminds me of another one |
|
in "American Graffiti."
When Milner and Carol stop at Mel's so she can get "one 10-cent Coke with ice," she calls him a "spastic creep." They changed it to "plastic creep."

8. Reminds me of a bad overdub job done on "Repo Man" |
|
In the scene where Emilio Estevez is driving frantically down the street shouting "fuck you" out his window at another driver, they put in a bad dub of him screaming "flip you!" instead. Who on earth says "flip you"? I could think of half a dozen more believable euphemisms to use, none of which sound dorky.
