My very elderly garndfather litterally fell on his face the other day.

Didn't break anything, didn't get a concussion, didn't even require stiches.

I tell's ya the guy must be made out of steel.

I'm just amazed.

He lived to be 95 , and sharp as a needle.

We did however decide to put him in a nursing home when the falling got bad :cry:

3. The incident happened on my grand-father's 95th birthday

last week. I just can't believe he didn't get hurt. He's been in a nursing home (his own decision) for 6 years now, but god dammit he refuses to get a walker, saying a cane is just fine. Even now, after the fall. He is one stubborn man.

I honestly believe that daddy lived to almost 96 yr old because he was to independent and stubborn to give up

2. Them old timers are tough

My father, who's 81, had a fall in August and broke 3 ribs and also had some bruising on the brain.

A little better than a week later, he was out gardening. :shrug:

7. My 80-year-old father-in-law just started falling frequently.

:( He has a doctor's appt. this week to see what's going on. They had been minor falls until yesterday, when he badly bruised his left arm. Both my husband and I know he needs assisted living (for that and a lot of other reasons), but my mother-in-law won't hear of it. :( Hubby and his sisters are working on it, though.

8. You might get him a really cool cane.....

...he sounds like he really needs support. Remind him, even John Steen needed a cane (well, actually it was an umbrella, still worth a try)!

10. He has a cane and he still manages to get by with only the cane.

But he needs a walker for when he doesen't so good. I mean he's 95 years old, it's already a blessing that he doesen't need a wheelchair, I don't know why he insists on pushing his luck.

9. My FIL did that once...

and I was the only one available to go to the ER where he had been taken from the nursing home. His nose was broken and about 3 times the size of normal. Of course, this was after he had lost his ability to speak or understand English and my German is not what it should be. It was a fun morning....

11. Yeah he's fine.

A bumb on his head and a black eye, but nothing broken and no concussion. He's hard as a rock. And it can't be because of what he did for a living, he was a political journalist. He sat in the House of Commons in Ottawa all day reporting on the events.
