4. There are "others"

not all of whom they have met. There is also the tail section survivors and the fact that the camera hasn't shown all of the survivors in detail yet.

But the show has always given itself wiggle room by not really focusing on many of the other survivors. Outside of the main cast you don't really see much of anyone from the crash survivor's camp or many of the other...others. lol So they have some room to bring new characters in and out.
