Two years ago today, our town's Magic Shop burned to the ground.
On Halloween Night. Luckily most of the thousands of costumes they had available for rental were not in the store, since it was Halloween.

But don't despair. Chuck's House of Magic now has a brand new store, even bigger and better than the old one. And they didn't lose a single costume to the fire.

How fortuitous for Chuck.

1. Maybe it was time for Chuck to get a new building?
I'm just saying, it was a "lucky" thing that the costumes were all out on rental.
Our local palm reader/fortune tellers business/home burned down a couple of years ago. You would have thought she might have had an idea it was going to happen??????

2. Yeah well.....
It certainly has occured to a lot of locals that it was 'meant' to happen that way.

8. Sometimes there are religious 'lone wolf' types
who bravely take on the 'forces of evil' by screwing with local capitalism they don't like. Have heard of several magic shops, occult shops and non-mainstream book shops having troubles around Halloween over the decades.

9. I could see that.
I live about 60 miles south of Nashville. They call it "The buckle" of the bible belt and I believe it. When I was growing up in Upstate New York people had religion, down here people LIVE religion. I actually had a co-worker who made about 30k a year tell me "God will decide how many children we have". Poor sucker had 8 kids already and another on the way. He barely made it every month. He got kind of mad when I told him that God also allows Walgreens to sell condoms......
