why Dad loves Halloween
I like candy as much as anyone.
my girls are always off the cute meter in their costumes
It great to see mild-mannered neighbors who drape their house in ghouls, flash strobe lights, and play scary music and generally scare the hell out of all the kids in the neighborhood

Every year as I walk around my neighborhood I see and talk to my neighbors out doing the same thing, just say hi,how are ya and nice to see ya. This might be my favorite part.

My kids are getting older and taking them trick-or treating may be over for me in the next few years. That is the scary part for me.

There's one guy who sits very still in a lawn chair dressed as a scarecrow near his front door and waits until the kids get real close then moves and they all scream. He does it every year so my kids KNOW its coming and STILL scream with fright.

Halloween makes me feel like part of my neighborhood like no other day.
