OK-Was walking to son's house-tripped & fell-knee now like a balloon
Was just around the corner from my house, walking over to son's party with a bottle of wine. Tripped on the sidewalk and fell very hard on my bad knee (wrecked knee several times over the years, have had it repaired).

My knee immediately swelled up. Luckily, even though the bottle of wine broke, most of it stayed in the sack and I didn't cut myself.

Have knee iced, wrapped and elevated. OUCH!! Just looked at it again...it's already an ugly yellow green....hope I didn't break the kneecap...what little kneecap I have left (just have about a 1/4 of normal kneecap left)

Sympathies appreciated.

4. Please go to get it xrayed. Bones bleed and cause swelling.
You really should not risk it going without a doctor's examination.

Sorry to be a neb-nose into your business. I once fell in a handicapped zone (!) -- and broke a small bone in my foot. It swelled terribly and I had to drive from Connecticut back to Massachusetts by myself to get to the hospital.

I'm afraid you'll need medical care.

Will call doc in AM. Don't have insurance, so trip to ER would be lengthy and costly. I think it should be 'rayed, too. :(

Thanks, babycakes :pals: :hi:

3. My dear Whoa_Nelly!
Oh, sweetie! I ache for your poor knee!

YOu know the drill: RICE....rest, ice, compression, and elevation!

Stay off it, OK?

Use a cane if you have one.......that root broom would work!

Lots of sympathy and love headed your way......... :loveya:

6. Oh, sweetie!!! I'm so sorry!
 What a bummer! It sounds like you're doing all the right things you should be doing. If it's still hurting and swollen in the morning you should probably get thee to a doctor, though.

Keep us posted on how you're doing, OK? :loveya:

Right now it's throbbing, even with the ice. But, just looked again, and some of the swelling is going down...but it's still kinda ugly.

Thanks, sweetie  :loveya:

Luckily I had my cell phone with me. Called son. He and one of his friends came and helped me into his truck, took me home. Then, son went back and swept the glass shards off sidewalk.

Am a lucky mom :)

And ouch..fell on my left knee, right wrist, and now am feeling a bit twisty sore from the fall. A group of older kids (looked to be high school age) saw me fall...walked right on by :(

17. See, you shoul dhave been taking Hersey Syrup...
You could have quickly used the soft plastic container as a chusion...

All that Syrup would have not only made you the hit of any party but saved your knee...

Am calling an orthopedist today. My leg won't support me, is wobbly and still very swollen this AM from top of kneecap to about 4 inches below. Am suspecting a joint tear or a damage to the top of the tibia or both.

26. I think we have a design flaw when it comes to knees.
A body ought to be able to wreck the knee fifty times and have it regrow or something. Anyway, I'm very sorry to hear about your fall & I hope it gets better soon. You are lucky you didn't get terribly cut up.

Looking at the broken glass was the first thing I did before I turned over to sit up and scream. The way my knee swelled immediately in a hot, blood gushing kind of way, had to check to make sure there was no glass in me. Luckily, no glass in me.

Am calling orthopedist today...I think I'm broken :(

33. Knee pain is the one thing I can totally understand.
Having had one knee replaced two times, and now having the other one beginning its slow disintegration into dust, I can honestly say I feel your pain.

I hope whatever damage was done ends up being minor and does not last long.

34. "While all this was happening, Piglet had gone back to his own house
to get Eeyore's balloon. He held it tightly against himself, so that it shouldn't blow away, and he ran as fast as he could so as to get to Eeyore before Pooh did; for he thought that he would like to be the first one to give a present, just as if he had thought of it without being told by anybody. And running along, and thinking how pleased Eeyore would be, he didn't look where he was going ... and suddenly he put his foot in a rabbit hole, and fell down flat on his face.

BANG!!!???***!!!

Piglet lay there, wondering what had happened. At first he thought the whole world had blown up; and then he thought that perhaps only the Forest part of it had; and then he thought that perhaps only he had, and he was now alone in the moon or somewhere and would never see Christopher Robin or Pooh or Eeyore again..."

'I thought,' said Piglet earnestly, 'that if Eeyore stood at the bottom of the tree, and if Pooh stood on Eeyore's back, and if I stood on Pooh's shoulders ---'
'And if Eeyore's back snapped suddenly, then we could all laugh. Ha ha! Amusing in a quiet way,' said Eeyore, 'but not really helpful.'
...
'Getting Tigger down,' said Eeyore, 'and Not hurting anybody. Keep those two ideas in your head, Piglet, and you'll be all right...I'm not saying there won't be an Accident now, mind you. They're funny things, Accidents. You never have them till you're having them.'

Hoping laughter is the best medicine. :hi:
