Nuke and serve concept.
It's mostly frozen, a lot of it is fully precooked, and it's all pre-mixed and pre-seasoned. I'm surprised, actually, that some of it tastes good to me.

29. I don't think most people realize that about many hain restaurants |
|
That most of the food is shipped frozen and nuked... I think the consistency of most of the meat would show that.

8. I don't know why anyone would eat that shit unless they were in an |
|
Italian food deprived area, and in that case, they should just make it at home.
Seriously, there is no excuse to eat that crap within NYC/NJ. There is plenty of REAL Italian food available for the same price.

30. I think if a town is big enough for an Olive Garden |
|
than it probably has a local Italian or Greek place that has better (and cheaper) food than OG.
I also don't understand people in NJ/NY ordering pizza from Domino's, etc.... unless they are too stoned to drive. Even here, we have several very good pizza places. I grew up in NJ and my family is Sicilian -- I know me some good pizza!

However, the Domino's in Madison is open for several hours beyond the real pizza places and they'll deliver to drunk people at the bar. I think you'll agree that it is perfectly acceptable to order Domino's under that specific circumstance.

|
the only time I've ever eaten there they brought a hugh bowl of salad, all fresh mixed greens. I ordered a pasta dish with mussels and garlic that was ok, but I'd already gorged on the salad. I give props to any place that delivers a good salad.

Nothing ground-breaking about the place or the food, but it's good for what it is, and it's reasonably priced as well.

My personal favorites are the Steak Gorgonzola Alfredo and Stuffed Chicken Marsala. I do have many great Italian restaurants in my area that I do go to, but sometimes, those breadsticks and salad start calling out to me, and I just have to bring my family to the Olive Garden.

Lots of good authentic places in my 'hood and I patronize them when I can, but when I'm short on funds, the all you can eat is a godsend.

Olive Garden hasn't done very well in St. Louis. This is why: http://stlouis.missouri.org/thehill/Restaurants.htmlWe have a few dozen stellar Italian restaurants all within blocks of each other.

don't do very well in the heart of Minneapolis either. Olive Garden and TGI Friday's both closed their downtown locations last year, and I've seen others come and go from the area.

if you are close to downtown Mpls. would you think of eatting at an Olive Garden when you could go to "It's Greek to Me" or "Christos"? I can see why they closed.

those god-awful garlic things they serve . . .
the salad is not bad - if using about half the normal dressing they drench it with . . .
and I do like the minestrone soup
but everything else - just fat/calorie laden junk . . . trying to pass for Italian . . . dreadful

A great lunch deal. I actually like their zuppa toscana, the breadsticks are pretty good and I can fill up on relatively healthy food for about 8 bucks.
I also like some of their entrees. The seafood portofino is pretty good.

relatives for "ethnic" food. You know the ones that can't deal with anything beyond perfected routine? They get consistency and you get, well edible food. (Beats Denny's, ya know?)
