HELP! Another phrase for presumption of common belief.
I know there's a phrase out there. I know it's used often in business. It describes something that most experts believe to be true, a trend or a pattern. If chewing gum salesman primarily held a common belief that red heads don't buy chewing gum, then red heads not buying chewing gum would be one of these.

What is the phrase? It's driving me mad!!!
