I used to live in a neighborhood full of high-rise apartment buildings, and in the fall, the caretakers would go around the parking lots and sidewalks with leaf blowers whose sound filled the known universe. I could close my windows, and the sound still competed with the radio.

2) Portable music players that can be and are turned up loud enough so that other people can hear the words of the song from five feet away. Aside from the fact that the owner of the device is probalby drilling holes in his brain with the sound waves and damaging his hearing permanently, barely audible words over a rhythm track are really irritating to listen to. Walkmans and iPods and the like should be designed so that you CAN'T turn the sound up to those levels.

My lord I hate finding them when they get lost and so forth. There is a Simpson's episode where Homer cant get the remote to work so he stands two inches from the TV trying to change the channel and then goes and sits back down discouraged that he cannot get it to work. I have to sadly confess I have seen my husband do the same thing. LOL. Gotta love him. Apparently he had forgotten that you could change the channel while he was up from the television itself. :rofl:
