36. I replaced an anchorage light while drifting off the Oregon coast.

Even with a relatively small swell it scared the living s*!t out of me. I was relating the story to my GF a week or so ago and I realized that I'm still pissed at the skipper for asking me to do that. He must of know the bulb was out before we left the dock.
I was on a 40' double-ender salmon troller, and we had shut down for the night.

But I did it on my own.
It was a Navy LPD, in dry dock in a shipyard. And I was really wrecked. So, I thought it would be cool to climb the main mast. Even on the water, that was pretty high. But in dry dock, add on everything below the water line. It was OK going up. But then I had to come down.
Here's her photo. I just found out she was decomissioned in 2003.

I dived off the 03 bridge wing of my ship while she was tied up at Rosie Roads Puerto Rico. I was pretty lit at the time as well. The next night one of my shipmates took a flash light and shined it in the water approximately at my entry point. There were so many hammerheads and black tipped sharks in the water I'm surprised that I did not break my neck diving in, let alone being eaten swimming out.

I was stationed in GTMO and visited Rosie Roads on the Austin. I never went swimming at any of the beaches because of barracuda and hammerheads. Did a lot of night fishing for red snapper, though.

At Rosie's enlisted beach there is a tiny island at the mouth of the inlet. We would load up a rental cooler with beer, rum, and wacky tobbackey. In order to survive the swim to the island we would take off ALL shiny objects, rings, St Christoper's, dog-tags, any thing that would attract a Barracuda's attention. It was so freaky swimming over 6' barracudas and 10+ hammerheads in that crystal clear water. I was always afraid that a barracuda would slash at something shiny, and the blood would set-off the hammers.. yikes!

We had to swim with our GI issue tenny's (remember those?) because of the urchins. The reward was that we could smoke to our hearts content because no one in their right mind would be around to bust us. It was the closest we got to being civilians while on a cruse.

And yea your ride must of been so much smoother. I've walked down passageways while taking a few consecutive steps on the bulkheads during those "Oh F*#k" rolls.

And restricted to the base at that. Ford had just mentioned statehood for PR and people were quite unfriendly about it. So, I was stuck in a Marine riot.
We rode a hurricane across the Atlantic, so I know whatcha mean about those rolls. Amphibs have round hulls.
But we got away with a lot at GTMO. It helped to get friendly with the Jamaicans who worked there.
