BORAT is the Blazing Saddles of the new millennium! (minor spoilers)
Borat is a fascinating mixture of adolescent humor and very smart satire. I chuckled non-stop throughout the whole thing. It's really a statement about the unsophisticated American public - not only the ones represented in the film, but also those in the audience who actually think they are watching a documentary (as opposed to a mockumentary). Add to that some very disturbing scenes and lines that make the audience incredibly uncomfortable, mainly because they recognize the truth in them. (After Borat explains to a southern man that, in his country, homosexuals are put to death, the man replies very naturally, "we're workin' on that here" and it is delivered in such a way that it's actually jolting...)

It's the kind of movie that most liberals would appreciate, I think - sort of in the way that we appreciate Blazing Saddles. Blazing Saddles was not a racist movie - it was a satirical look at racism. Borat is very much like that...probably a bit more disturbing and a bit smarter.

Three thumbs up. :-)
