Whitney Houston does a cover of Dolly Parton's "I Will Always Love You." :wow:
I always detested Houston's version.

She did it for the movie "The Bodyguard". It was ALL OVER THE PLACE that year. No one even knew that it was Dolly's song..........

2. It was a decent cover. More triumphant, less painful than Dolly's. |
|
Dolly's was way better, of course.

3. I LOVE Whitney's version. |

Better than Dolly's, imo.
I just watched "The Bodyguard" last night on TNT late night. Funny you should bring this up!

It was #1 on the chart in 3 decades.
In the 70's when Dolly first recorded it. In the 80's when Dolly sang it in The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. In the 90's when Whitney sang it in The Bodyguard.

5. Dolly Parton adores Houston's cover of her song |
|
Why? Because it is Dolly's song -- she wrote it... and she made lots of money from it when the stupid "The Bodyguard" movie came out. I heard Dolly say this in an interview a couple years ago.

Welcome to this century.
By the way, Clinton won the election, but he's not the president anymore. Now we're stuck with George Bush's kid...

I think people are missing this part of the OP. The poster says he has always detested Houston's version.

11. I always detested that shitbag's voice. |

Let alone any one version of any song.
Hers was the "talent" and "industrially manipulated" "career" that was perfectly suited to end up in a marriage to an abusive, violent, crack head rap star.
