National Association of Evangelicals stands with Haggard - website back up

http://www.nae.net/

We pray for and stand with Rev. Haggard, his wife Gayle, and their children, and the New Life Church congregation at this difficult time. We also pray for the man who has accused Rev. Haggard.

Interesting that they can so quickly forgive Haggard's very high level of sin - in my opinion, the very highest form of sin, abusing the Lord's name for his personal gain - but can never forgive Clinton; can never stand with him in his time of pain; can never seem to believe that there is grace for Democrats. Or women who had abortions. Or gay people (unless, of course, they're meth using pastors who are only gay on the weekend in adulterous affairs that they paid for with the church's money).

I'm also curious as to WHAT they are praying when they pray for the man who has accused Haggard.

1. You know what those people are really saying with their actions:
"Join our side and we'll overlook anything you've done wrong."

2. I looked at the website prayer list of a fundie church in the area
People made prayer requests asking for OTHER PEOPLE to repent. Not themselves, of course.

3. Even I can muster up a prayer for poor Gayle.
Suddenly she's discovered not only that her husband is gay (it happens) but, more horribly, he is also a hypocritical, lying sack of shit. I foresee lots of counseling and no divorce. The good Pastor is willing to change! Pathetic.

5. I feel so bad for the wife and kids. To have been lied to is terrible.
For all your personal grief to be public is just horrific.

However, when you lead public lives and condemn others and work to deny others their civil rights, my extension of sympathy can only go so far.

6. That's true.
If she was a good "Christian" wife, she was as guilty of bullshit as he was, but bullshit of a different sort.

4. thats what they do
if they begin to doubt their pastor-fuhrer, then that leads to doubting his message, which leads to doubting their beliefs, which leads to a confused meltdown, like one of the confused robots in the old Star Trek.
