Input from silver foxes requested:
OK, so I went grey-no more dye for me and my hair is about 1/2 grey. I go to get my hair cut, and am told my hair is dingy looking, I need to use some grey 'poo/cond. Insulting, but I 'sorta' laughed it off.

Being economical, I go to the grocery store to find the stuff (Pantene was all I could find, but that's what I use anyway, so no probs) instead of buying it at the salon where an arm and a leg is charged. I'm using it now, 2nd time today. The 'poo is blue and the conditioner is purple. Please tell me I'm not going to turn into my grandma with blue hair!

3. my mom worked for a beauty supply company for 50 years
so i`m kind of an expert on hair...the blue stuff makes white hair shine..my mom used it for years and it really works. i still have some brown left in mine but soon i`ll be going blue. a little oil before you dry your hair works wonders on "older hair"....

the best for the money ( $10) is clairol`s "shimmering lights".

5. Another 'trick'
About once a month or every 6 weeks, I mix half developer with half shampoo, leave it on about 5 minutes and then rinse, wash thoroughly. It totally removes the yellow cast that all grey hair gets.

8. It's
an element that's mixed with hair coloring. It's a white, viscous material that you get at a beauty supply house.

Googled: "The Oxidizing Agent or Developer is hydrogen peroxide in one of various forms and strengths. lt is the catalyst or cause of the chemical reaction which allows the formula to permanently alter the hair's color. The strength of the developer - is determined by the desired results and the manufacturer's directions."

9. Thanks. I'm
trying to stay away from chemicals so I don't know that I'd use that.
The funny thing is, I never considered my hair dingy-looking until the wench told me it was.
Either it is or she was just trying to get me to spend more, but she made me anxious enough
to buy more hair stuff (though not from her).
MAybe I'll just douse myself with vinegar and call it a day.

7. I also have some brown left in mine.
So, my hair isn't going to turn blue?! Yay! I don't mind using the stuff, just wanted clarification. Thanks for the Clairol tip; I'll look for it.

10. Wanna-be silver here
I wish my hair would turn all grey.

The hair on the front of my head is silver, but the back is still mostly dark brown. I've been lightening my whole head to blonde, but I often use a silver temporary color (Roux Fanciful Rinse) so I can have silver hair. Silver goes better with my complexion than blonde does!

a "daily clarifying" (use only WEEKLY) shampoo & conditioner keep the silver bright and shiny, with NO yellowing. I have NO idea what this would do if you are continuing to use coloring, sounds like it would bleach it out.
