"You say you have lost something? It was never yours to begin with. Think of it as being restored to the universe."

It's the Universal recycling concept.

Where do the things that you have and the people that you know come from? Where do they go?

I have attempted writing about this simple theory before. All it says is that every molecule in the universe will be dispersed sooner or later into something or someone else.

For some reason, I dreamed up the theory when I was selling our home in Massachusetts. I was alone in the house and began to get somewhat despondent. Much of what we owned and used there was being sold or given away.

But this is the way things are in our universe. All that you own, even your own body, will go somewhere and be re-used. I just found it comforting to think about the Universal recycling concept.

It's a lot better than "Ashes to ashes and dust to dust." That's horrific!

2. Only until the protons and neutrons themselves decay
then even the atoms break up; and eventually, there is no more recycling of anything as energy is uniformly distributed across a dead, cold universe.

5. Well, ultimately -- the sun will explode and encompass the planets.
And then there will be just a Universal cinder. But will the Universe eventually grow cold? Is that really the ultimate destination?

7. You are making too big of a leap, here.
When the Sun (meaning, Earth's sun) explodes and absorbs the planets, that will only be the end of our solar system; not the entire universe. We have billions of solar systems in billions of galaxies in billions of galactic superclusters that all need to be destroyed.

The destruction of our solar system will be an entirely irrelevant event in the history of the universe - our sun isn't big enough even to warrant attention. (unless we are indeed the only solar system with life, in which case our destruction will be pretty relevant - though there won't be any to find it relevant, so maybe it'll be irrelevant anyway).

And while there are a variety of theories as to the teleology of the universe, one of the more popular ones is that, yes, eventually it just becomes uniformly distributed energy at just above absolute zero in temperature. Another theory is that all the matter and energy get sucked back into a singularity, and perhaps rebirthed as a new universe.

6. Yes, you're right. Just go to the Hubble telescope website and look around.

It just makes this case of pre-election jitters seem very inconsequential.
