Shit. I'm going to have the leave the election to the rest of you. Mrs R just watched
a woman get killed by a hit & run driver, not 20 feet away, as she was leaving work.

Save the world without me tonight, would you? I know you can do it. But I have another priority.

See you all tomorrow. Or maybe later tonight, because I may give her a sleeping pill so she doesn't have nightmares.

Edited on Tue Nov-07-06 06:07 PM by socialdemocrat1981
That's something nobody should have to see. I would understand quite naturally that your first priority would be to her and so it should be.

Hope everything turns out OK for you both  I'm so, so sorry Redstone

19. OK, lots of holding on my part and crying on her part, and I've got her
sedated against nightmares and asleep. Even made her some lobster bisque and got her to eat it.

Although after dinner she started to hallucinate and told me the kitchen sink was filled with blood...

Damn. I've seen more dead people than most folks have eaten steak dinners, and I don't have nightmares or hallucinations about it anymore.

But I remember when I did.

I'll not sleep much tonight, because I'll be watching over her. With arms ready as needed.

Thank you all for the comments and thoughts.

I'd not have survived the things I have if I wasn't tough.

Send Mrs R good thoughts. Send them to me as well, if you'd be so kind. But don't worry.

(Not that I don't appreciate the fact that you worry, you know.)

26. No, the woman was crossing the street to vote across from where Mrs R works.
But Mrs R did touch the woman, and talk to her, and try to find a pulse while they were waiting for the ambulance to arrive.

She was shocked at the amount of blood, as many people are when they see something like that.

32. I do give her credit for not freezing, and going out to the street to try to help.
Especially given how she HATES the sight of blood and/or death.

I'll be watching over her tonight, even with the sedatives she's taken, and over the next few days.

34. Yes, especially for that poor woman. Thank you for mentioning that.
Mrs R and the woman she works for (who was there as well) have not been able to find out who the victim was yet, but they've both decided that when the story hits the newspapers and they find out the identity, they'll both go to her funeral.

I think that's good of the two of them to want to do that.

If she is still shaken up--the hallucination bit you mentioned worries me--you might want to get her some help. It may do good for her to talk to a psychiatrist or psychologist a few times to help her get over the horrible thing she saw.
