Magical mountain weekend ... (or) ... hike till you puke!
Unbelievable weather for late December in the NC mountains. We had 12 people in the house (counting us) on Saturday for lunch. We "hiked" 10 of them on Saturday afternoon. Almost lost two. Six left by dark.

Today we (Mrs/Dr DemoTex, her 50 y/o brother, his 29 y/o wife, and another brother-in-law's two wonderful kids), hiked the gravel road to a gorge, then down - with the two young dogs - to the bottom of Rock Creek Falls. What a hike!

Anyway, I'm back in the NC mountains for the next six weeks or so. What a beautiful way to spend the winter. I cannot believe people tried to talk me out of wintering up here.

3. Caution!
Do not go white water rafting. If you hear banjo music--run!

2. Hey DemoTex...where is the mountain hideout?
I might be heading to MerleFest in Wilkesboro in April/May.

4. I'm between Rosman and Toxaway
Way down in the wilds. Far from Wilksboro. Black bears and black panthers, here ... sighted. The wilds, I tell you!

5. I think there's places
to stay in Wilkesboro. Though, I do know several who take the big-ass RVs up there every year. :P

8. There are, but they are filling up fast.
I may have to stay out of town. Still not sure I'm going yet.

7. Sounds wonderful
The last couple of days have been PERFECT hiking weather here in middle TN, but I've had family obligations. And of course, it's going to rain tomorrow. But come hell or high water, I'm going to Scott's Gulf this week to do some bushwacking and ridgewalking and wear myself out.

9. It was a nice day here too
60 and sunny. I could do winter this way, say until March 21. :D
