***Tattoo picture thread!***
Edited on Mon Nov-13-06 12:40 PM by janesez
I have two in pictures:

Fishbone (the band) tattoo on my hip.

I have one of these on the inside of each arm.

I also have tattoos on my right upper arm (the outside), a big one on my back, and around my ankle.

Post your own!

3. Strength.
I got it because it's kind of a hidden spot. And I've been through a lot, plus that's the arm I usually hurt people with in karate.

It's mostly shit from college, when friends of mine were apprenticing at tattooing and needed brave volunteers. Not as grimly bad as prison tats, but nothing especially worth showing off, either. I probably should have just left this thread alone...

Edited on Mon Nov-13-06 01:44 PM by janesez
And I have a big one over my spine that took 5 and a half hours. That was NOTHING compared to the 20-30 minutes for each inner arm star. I was making noises like I was having an orgasm, heh. I couldn't believe how much it hurt, and I have a damned high pain tolerance. Of course, it felt awesome at the same time - but maybe I'm the only one who thinks that...I've said too much...

57. Native American
The world as a turtle is fairly common I think.

I took it from the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) symbol for the world or rather "the island" which is often how they refereed to North America.

There are 13 segments (in my tattoo they are along the edge, but traditionally they cover the whole shell) representing the 13 moons of the year. Occasionally the 13 segments where meant to represent the 13 colonies in treaties during the American colonial period.

I altered it to include the image (tree and mountain) I associate with the White Mountains in New England (NH and Maine) where I spend a lot of time.

My son actually drew it up from my description and that is what the tattoo artist based it on.

79. My heart tattoo
actually has more significance than the dolphin does.

I got the dolphin when I was 21 and just desperately wanted a tat. Not that I don't like dolphins, I do, of course.

But the heart actually has meaning. 5 of my very best girl friends also have the same heart tat. We all got them during a "girl's week out" vacation.
