Crap, I have a dilemma re: my job interview tomorrow... |
|
I appled for a great job, THEN i had a terrible falling out with my boss, and tomorrow I have an interview for the great job. Problem - I put on my application that it was OK to contact her. We settled our conflict, but she has a history of being a very spiteful person and I have no idea what she will say.
Is there any way to skillfully slip into an interview..."please don't call my boss...?"

Of course they shouldn't be checking references until they have offered you the position but, at the end of the interview, ask them what the next steps are in the process.
At that point, you can just say "oh by the way, my boss doesn't know I'm looking so..." you'd rather they contact other references you will provide and offer to send them over (if you haven't already provided them).
Most employers understand the sensitivity of current employment.

 Just letting the interviewer know that it's not OK quite yet is the way to go. :) You'll do great!!!
