The Seduction

The loose unbuttoned cotton shirt you wear
over your buffed bare chest is haloed by
the window's light at dusk. Stretching, you sigh
"You're my best friend," then step into the snare,
my casually braided whirl of hair.
I move closer, you catch my Nimrod eye-
beware of hounds and hunters. I lose my
honorable intentions when you're near
and place my fingertips upon your face,
"You're my friend, too," words I can barely say.
You're standing close, so close I breathe your breath.
A blink, a sigh, you turn from my embrace
and face the window that gives you away.
The pane reflects your smile as dark as death.
