Poll question: What time do you eat Thanksgiving Dinner? |
|
Edited on Tue Nov-14-06 11:53 AM by Caution
My wife and I have an ongoing argument about what time Thanksgiving Dinner is eaten. My family typically eats at about 1pm. My wife feels this is "crazy early"
When do you eat Thanksgiving Dinner?
OK my choices suck. Just pick the closest timeframe.

1. I shoot for between 2-3 p.m. |
|
There's just no way I can get it finished any earlier...I start to cook on Tuesday night but without two ovens, which ain't happenin'...no way. It's just physically impossible.
But you've gotta eat a little earlier on Thanksgiving, because you have to have room for dessert. So, essentially what you want to do is have dinner closer to lunchtime and then dessert for dinner.
Works for me.
:D

i think is better that way you can digest the first and go back for seconds later on or to accomodate the people that have to work that night or next day.

3. Half-time in the Lions game |
|
A Michigan tradition. Not that I ever pay attention to the Lions-I like college football, but only watch the Superbowl, NFL-wise. It's hard to be an NFL fan when your local team has never been good in your lifetime.

7. Nope. Not debating the merits of Thanksgiving. If you don't participate in |
|
Thanksgiving, then don't participate in the poll.
I just want to know what time is "normal" for serving the Thanksgiving Dinner from those who do participate.

We eat around 2:00-ish, just to make sure we're hungry later around 7:00 or 8:00 for sandwiches made from leftovers, and a second slice of pumpkin pie!

9. Big breakfast around 9, prepared by someone not involved in dinner prep |
|
That's only fair. Skip lunch. Canapes around 3. Dinner around 5:30. Dessert around 7:30. Bedtime soon after.

14. It depends on where we're having it |
|
At my brother's house it's between 1:00 and 2:00, at my mom's it's between 2:00 and 3:00 which is how I voted since that's where we're heading this year.

facon. Okay, not really, because 1. the salt would be deadly 2. I really like lentil loaf, but I'm really wondering now if I could make a vegan version just to prove I could.

get back from the high school football games.
My dad and I are both sports writers and we cover a high school game in the morning while Mom and Sis prepare dinner.
When the game is done, we EAT! :bounce:

29. with my inlaws, it has to be before the damn football game |
|
even in the years when the Cowboys suck.
The year I hosted, I had it at night so the game would be over, and it also gave me all day to finish getting ready. I also put all my tables together and made them all eat at one table, instead of in front of the TV, and scattered all over the house.
So my SIL is hosting this year, and we will rush around to eat before the game starts.
