A question on job interview etiquette?
My wife is due at the end of December. I have an interview on the first. Should I tell the panel?

1. No
Why bring it up until / unless they offer you the job?

2. Would only bring that subject up
if you get the job and are setting up the contract.

Life happens, babies are born every day. Wait to mention it.

4. No. Family status should not be a consideration. nt

5. Depends on what you are going to tell them, and what "first" you mean.
If it's December first, then there's no reason to tell them.

if it's January first, then I would say to the interviewing people something like "My wife is due in late December, so there is a small chance of her giving birth on the first, in which case I will need to be with her. Is it okay if, in case she doesn't give birth on time, that I can reschedule the interview if I need to be with her at the hopital on that day?"

Something like that.

6. Generally no it is not their business
But it is a double edged sword. The information may work against you, but also in surprising them if you do get the job may breed some hard feelings which you may not want.
