Damn you, Hershey's Chocolate.
I'm trying to be good over the holiday's and not indulge in too many sweets. I want my jeans to fit in January.

So what do I see in Target this morning? ...Hershey's Kisses in Candy Cane flavored and Chocolate Truffle.

It's. Just. Not. Fair!!!!

3. Right...hopefully, they don't use the same procedures in the US...
...and, I'm glad it's not Kisses, too! :hi:

4. I've given up trying to be good...
I just try and limit the damage. I don't eat much on the actual holidays themselves, it's all the 'testing' while I'm cooking that kills me.

I mean...chocolate-covered cherries have to age -- that's how they get that nice, creamy center. And how can you tell if they're ready unless you try one? I mean, it's just common sense. And you have to try a piece of fudge when you cut into the batch so that you can make sure it doesn't taste scorched or grainy...you wouldn't want to serve scorched fudge, after all. And you have to make sure the cookies aren't too floury or too buttery. And you have to make sure that the peanut brittle isn't too brittle. And you have to make sure the divinity's light enough. And you have to make sure that the marzipan isn't too sticky. And you have to...

And if a peanut butter cup breaks when you're taking out of the mold, you can't let it go to waste...that just wouldn't be right.

Would it?

5. Practicing quality control is the best part of the holidays!
But I'm still gonna keep alot of fruit around. That should help take the edge off the sweet tooth.

BTW Everything you mentioned sounds dee-licious!! :9

7. I miss peanut brittle.
I've got too much delicate dental work to eat any, though.

6. I've seen those candy cane kisses (just mentioned it in another thread).
I've just had an epiphany: the holiday food extravaganza is being pushed by....the even bigger weight loss industry!

Get the consumers to pack on the pounds in October, November and December, then sock it to 'em for supplements, diets, programs, equipment and gym memberships in January! Which will all be given up by February, just in time for Valentine candy!

It's a HUGH conspiracy!!1!1

Oh, here...:tinfoilhat:

It really does make sense, though...who knows?

If those diets pushed by the weight loss industry
really worked, America would be very, very thin. I'm SERIES!!!1!!!1111
It's in the industries interest for them not to work so that people have to keep going back again and again and again... :tinfoilhat:

Pass the chocolate, please.

9. I guess I'm lucky that I don't like chocolate very much.
I mean, I love chocolate flavored desserts, but real chocolate, even with mint added, is too much for me. I will get fat on meat and mashed potatoes over the holidays, but not on sweet foods.

10. I know the feeling...
my biggest weakness is sugar cookies...I can't recall the recipe...hold on...

brb

I knew I still had it...

2/3 cups shortening, 3/4 cup granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla, 1 egg, 4 teaspoons milk, 2 cups sifted all purpose flour, 1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder, 1/4 teaspoon salt.

Thoroughly cream shortening, sugar, and vanilla. Add egg and milk; beat till light and fluffy. Sift together dry ingredients. Blend into creamed mixture. Divide dough in half. Cover and chill at least 1 hour.

On lightly floured surface, roll to 1/8 inch thickness. Cut in desired shapes with cutters. Bake on ungreased cooie sheet at 375 degrees about 8 to 10 minutes. Cool slightly; remove. Makes about 3 dozen. It says to chill the other half until ready to use.

With the white frosting, mixed with red, and green dye, to make the cookies look a bit more festive...I have a huge weakness for these cookies...last year, damn...I tried to control eating them, like two or three a day...but my will power was weak...:)

11. Do you know what would make a good topping for those cookies, too?
Melt some caramels, drizzle it over the top and sprinkle with crushed nuts!

Low calorie? I think not! But oh so good!

14. I can't eat just one, either.
After about 10 I feel kind of sick, but I just keep eating.

I think I really understand how alcoholics feel. I can't keep the stuff in the house.

16. aw!lol.I know.It's soooo hard to resist.
I haven't seen Chocolate truffle Kisses yet.Oh my GOD.lol

I just try and repeat the mantra "Nothing tastes as good as being slender feels" as I walk by that stuff.
I could be as big as a house sooooo easily.I walk through the supermaret staring at cheesecake and ice cream and twinkies and doritos...I've trained myself that these type foods are OUT of the question to buy so I usually walk by them but sometimes...yeah,it's hard.
