2. For what?
Trying to motivate his players.

Give me a break.

People have become to sensitive.

If you're not tough enough to play the game, then quit.

I don't think Bobby Knight did anything wrong in THIS case.

I'm not saying Knight's a saint, he's far from that, but in this specific case, all he was doing was trying to motivate his players.

I compare Knight's actions to Dean's scream.
Just trying to rev up his base.

Had about the most motivated college players ever.

Bobby Knight proves his incompetence with every tantrum he throws.

3. Sportscenter did a Top 10 on him this evening.
Must've worn out three bleepers.

I know the guy wins games, but jeez, I hope he treats his kids better than he treats his players.

4. Ironically, one of his prior incidents involved one of his own sons...
Edited on Tue Nov-14-06 10:34 PM by WeRQ4U
He kind of roughed him up on the bench in 1993.....shoved him I think.

I agree with the poster above though. In this instance, it was nothing. What's the difference between screaming your ass off at someone and this? He simply wanted his player to keep his head up and play. Nothing to see here folks.

7. This warrants absolutely none of the press it's been given...
It was nothing. It wasn't abuse. It wasn't motivated by anything but an attempt to inspire his player. Even his player said it was nothing.

9. Yeah, he's gone overboard before.....
You know, chocking players, throwing chairs, profanity laced tirades, shoving his son during a game etc. He is a little off.

10. How the hell does he still have a job?
And I'm not even taking his mistreatment of players or his asinine behavior on the court into consideration. I'm talking about his pathetic postseason record. I remember when you could set a watch to IU choking in the first round of the NCAA tournament, and what kind of powerhouse has Texas Tech become since he started coaching there? It doesn't help matters that good players don't want to play for him. Think of all the decent NBA players who played their college ball under Knight. OK, Isiah Thomas....AND?......

He's too shitty a coach to be given as much free reign as he gets.

12. Why the hubbub? Bobby Knight is a winner! That's all that matters!!!!!
:sarcasm:

Personally, I think Bobby Knight typifies modern day America - an over-agressive bully.

15. people will excuse the most atrocious behavior for sports
It doesn't matter if you're a raging asshole, drug addict, rapist, violent bully, or any of the other mindless thugs that inhabit professional and college sports. All that matters is that you win games and everyone will look the other way because sports is the be-all end-all of existence. :eyes:

16. I have met him a couple of times
He was involved in a wedding of one of my cousins in Bloomington and he was a perfect gentleman. It was funny he didn't say much of anything but at the reception the room sort of gravitated toward him and he was very gracious and told some pretty funny stories. I am not saying he isn't completely inappropriate at times but he is not the boogie man. He won games and he graduated 98% of his players at IU. There are some high profile coaches that have not graduated a single player, bob huggins being one of them. Ask Landon Turner's family about Bob Knight and they will tell you everything he did for Landon after he was paralyzed. Everyone has there good amd bad points. Miles Brand used Bob Knight as a spring board to get the NCAA position. there are two sides to every story.
