Poll question: Who here currently drinks alcohol? |
|
I know this seems like a lame question, but I thought it would be interesting to compare marijuana use to alcohol use here in the DU lounge. Let's see if we can make something sort of scientific out of this, a'right?

2. I do, and for the wrong reason. I use it as an analgesic. |

But I don't care if it's the wrong reason. Anything that dulls the pain, I'll do. And to hell with anyone who wants to criticize that. It's MY pain.

3. What's wrong with one drink a day? |
|
Supposed to lower risk of stroke/heart attack. One beer? One Oz of liquor? This makes me a HABITUAL DRINKER?
I think not.

or some times not at all for several weeks.
My drink of choice is Jack Daniel's. If I'm not at home, my limit is two drinks, less if I'm some where I won't be staying for several hours.

9. I'm one of those every day tokers |
|
but drink very rarely, probably no more than 4 times a year, and usually just wine. I don't like the way alcohol makes me feel...it just makes me groggy and sleepy and gives me a headache in the morning.

10. I voted rarely....... |
|
But I drink even less than one or two drinks per month...
And I never drink hard liquor, just wine.
And one glass when I do have any.......
That's all I need to get high!

I never drank until a couple of years ago, and since then it's only been two or three times a year. I wouldn't have any problem swearing it off altogether, but I like it a little every now and then. I do think it's a vastly overrated cultural phenomenon, but I know I'm in a tiny minority with that view!

"People who don't drink don't know what they're missing. They wake up in the morning and that's the best they're going to feel all day."

Siriusly. I am so bad that when I found out vanilla contained alcohol in 1989 I stopped using it in my cookies.

25. probably they taste different, but I am used to my old new recipe |
|
I kinda ruined my sister on baking when I noticed that her first batch of cookies tasted funny. My first family doctor insisted that I eat eggs, so my parents put one in a milkshake without telling me. When I complained that the milkshake tasted funny Dad got so mad. "What do you mean it tastes funny?" I quit drinking milkshakes then for a couple of years. I figured I did not like them anymore. It was only many years later that one of my younger siblings dropped the dime on them.

20. why no option for "never"...? |

i take narcotic medication daily for chronic pain due to a severe arthritic condition- the medication doesn't allow for the consumption of alcohol.
BUT- as far as the marijuana thing goes- put me down for an oz./week...and that's just me smokin'- my wife nor any of my friends don't do it.

I think I'm going to stop drinking pints and go back to bottled beer, half as much beer for the same price you gotta drink less that way!

27. I usually drink every day. |

Sometimes its heavy sometimes its only one.
I like to drink. It helps me relax and fall asleep at night. My work hours are all screwed up and I have bad insomnia. I depend on alcohol to put me to sleep. I know, not such a good thing but it works for now.

29. I clicked 'socially' but |
|
I'm probably somewhere between socially and casually. I'll have a beer or glass of wine at home on occasion (maybe 1 or 2 times a month) with a meal or a snack.
Sometimes when I'm out with friends and they're all drinking I'm not depending on mood and what I'm eating or planning for the next day.

Maybe 8 to 10 drinks a year, max. :) Of that, maybe 4 mixed drinks and the rest are glasses of wine. I come from a long line of alcoholics on both sides of my family, but my siblings and I have escaped the genetic curse. :D :woohoo: I am not opposed to drinking at all, but I just choose not to drink a lot, and never to excess. :) I've seen what it can do to families and to individuals, and that has definitely affected my outlook.
