Anyone mind if I crow a little here?
I just checked out my publisher's page on my upcoming novel and I'm feeling pretty jazzed right now. Wanted to share this awesome cover art with folks here, at least.

Oh, and btw...they've got it listed as a sci-fi/fantasy romance and a paranormal romance? It's a futuristic fantasy with some romantic elements. Romance sells.

God, I LOVE this cover.

I love this book.

:D

:hi:

May your novel go into seven printings!

:D ( I don't know...seven seemed a good number... )

on edit: okay, what's an e-book? Like a downloadable file kind of thing?
What format would you recommend?

3. Yep... e-books are the next big thing
in my opinion. My wife turned me on to them and the next thing I knew, I had publishers banging on MY door. LOL

One of the things I like the most about the format, e-book over print (though this book is going to print too, a few months after it's released in electronic) is that e-books can be transmitted world-wide in a matter of a minutes with no shipping costs associated with fuel expenditure or wasted paper. The print copies are generally printed On Demand, which means that few are printed that are not subsequently sold. This method, in my opinion, is far more environmentally friendly.

As far as electronic formats, it depends on the method of reading. For use on PDAs, which is how my wife and I usually read them (it's nice because I can carry a buttload of books with me everywhere I go without the inconvenient size of even a paperback) I would recommend either palm reader or adobe pdf format. On a computer itself, I'd go with the pdf as well. Adobe reader is a free program after all.

:)

7. thanks
and now I have my first e-book, though I don't have a PDA. :)
I guess I won't be carrying around a buttload of them at a time, since this is a desktop pc, and not a laptop...

8. Please, not ANOTHER sci-fi/fantasy/paranormal romance
God, I am SO over the glut of sci-fi/fantasy/paranormal romances.

Seems like every other person on the train is reading fiction about vampires on another planet falling in love.

Can't you at least be original?

10. Original?
You mean, like werewolves from another dimension falling in love?

Patiod, that's just silly.

:P

11. Oh, my stuff is QUITE original, actually...
Edited on Wed Nov-15-06 04:11 PM by Mythsaje
And what that means is the public is starting to catch up to what I write. LOL

on edit: The next book out from this publisher is "Tales from the Magitech Lounge," which is due out in April, I believe. It's SO not a "vampire falls in love" story. It's a collection of vignettes about a bar in the Haight that becomes a refuge for an assortment of freaks in the year 2260.

This is the first book in a new series. I'm currently working on a sequel now.

"Sword" is a lot bigger story than a vampire falling in love.

My wife reviews a lot of the books like you're talking about and believe me, my stuff is nothing like that formula. In fact, one author specifically said that one of my books "Of Man and Monster," the second book in my original Infinity: Earth series, was "the most original vampire book she'd read in years."

12. Sorry - I was joking about the proliferation
of nother dimension vampire romances.

The people on my train actually do sudoku, read the commuter newspaper, read (pretty decent) bestsellers, or sit staring into space with their mouths hanging open.

Not even a whole lot of fans of "traditional" sci-fi (yes, I'm nosy and check out what people are reading - got into a good discussion recently with a woman reading Penn Jillete's "Sock Puppet")

14. LOL
There are a LOT of paranormal romances out there. I thought you were serious. LOL

Of course, most of those are contemporary, trying to cash in on the popularity of Charlene Harris's Sookie Stackhouse books and Laurell Hamilton's Anita Blake series.

I enjoy both, but I've got other stories to tell.
