Happy office jitters
Yesterday before I left the office, my boss asked me into his office. We sat down and he asked me if I could stay about twenty minters late on Thursday afternoon. My mind instantly began trying to determine what this was going to be about. I guess my face advertised my concern because the next thing out of his mouth was, "Don't worry... it's nothing bad, but that's all I can really say right now."

Three months ago, he and his boss had asked me if I'd be interested in staying late at the office a few nights a week to troubleshoot the computers. Three weeks ago, I had written a proposal as to why I deserved an annual raise this year. My boss and the owner of the company were impressed by it and my boss told me that he and the owner had floated the idea of me managing the company's PR department.

I want to explore this further and ask around the office if anyone knows anything so I'll be prepared for what comes down, but I've decided to play it cool and play it down. No bounce, no play.

Either one of these would be great... St. Peter knows I need the additional income (I'm actually currently in the process of looking for a evening or weekend job to make ends meet during this financially "off-season" I'm experiencing).

On the other hand, he might just use the time to assign me additional responsibilities without compensation-- it's happened more times than I care to admit in the past year.

I guess I'm just a little nervous. I want to get my hopes up about the PR gig, but if that happens, it means learning a brand new job from scratch and working in department that is staffed solely by females. Don't get me wrong-- I like women (and sometimes they even like me), but sometimes it's nice to hang out with the guys at lunch and complain about girlfriends/wives/etc.

I'm posting this purely out of nervous energy, not because I'm prematurely gloating over my success. Anyway, for what it's worth, I'll update this Thurs. night.

1. Sending good vibes your way.
Goodness knows we could all use an increase in income! Wishing you good luck, buddy. :) But, don't sweat the situation. Hope for the best, plan for the worse and just go with the flow.
