need a little help from a web guru please..
I'm doing a small website for a guitar shop i work for. i've set up a main navigation page that people will use to access all the other pages at the site. I want to use a picture of an amp that i have modified that will allow a mouseover on the various knobs to trigger a small amount of text to appear in the program window of the amp. All the mouseover stuff i've seen only allows for the changing of the image directly under the cursor. i really only know very little html and can't "program". what's the simplest way to do this?

here is a picture of the amp i was talking about..

1. Get thee a copy of DreamWeaver or FireWorks...
access the help files to find out how to do the mouseovers, and follow through. This may be a little buggy, but will work. You could also do this in Flash, but this may be harder to learn.

Otherwise, you're in for a lot of Javascript coding. The Dreamweaver and FireWorks write the javascript for you, but you still have to learn how to use them. Good Luck.

2. yup! this is a job for dreamweaver...
wish I had the time to do it for you gratis but... if you don't have Dreamweaver yet... it really makes it easy to produce effective effects.

3. i do
i have dreamweaver 2004, i guess i'll have to dig in and look for it harder. what i'm worried about is the image placement on top of the other image..

maybe i'm biting off more than i can or want to chew here..

4. Probably no simple way to do that
If you do it in flash it will look cooler than using javascript, but either way you do it, you're going to have to learn something you don't now know.

This actually a fairly complex javascript function, and for that reason flash might be easier (it has a wizard to take you step by step through this) but that might be cost prohibitive. Try googling something like "javascript image replacement code" and you may be able to find something akin to the code you'll need, so that you'll just have to tweak it instead of doing it from scratch (changing image names, etc).

Good luck.

5. i have *an* answer for you
(in Dreamweaver)

you would cut the 'amp' image into pieces.

place the 'end'(l) in a table with 10 colummns.

you'll create one version of the 'screen'(r) piece for each rollover.

create a mult-event rollover for each 'knob' piece that changes the 'screen' image (you don't have to change the knobs but need to set them to link to the corresponding page when 'clicked') to fill out the rest of the table.

of course, you'll set the table padding/borders to '0' to make sure the amp image appears as a 'single' graphic. as you 'mouse over' each of the 'knobs' the 'screen' will change accordingly.

there might be other solutions! but i loved the challenge of finding a solution...

PM is this is not clear.
