Do you log out first, then exit DU?

I just exit DU and skip the whole logging out business.

1. I use it if I'm on a public computer, just to be safe.
But never when I'm at home.

4. I've never seen a computer log me back in after exiting DU.
If I close out DU and re-open it later-even if it is only a few minutes- I always have to log in again.

8. It has to do with the web browser's cookie settings.
And also whether or not you tell DU to keep you logged in until you actually log out.

11. I don't.
As long as I haven't shut my browser down, if I go back to DU after exiting, I'm still logged in.

18. Either you never check the box highlighted in Ptah's post #14
or you do but your browser is not accepting cookies from DU (or maybe any other site too).

20. I started a topic on this awhile back:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=105x5090820

"Our local news did a story on spy ware this week. They said that we should always log out when leaving a site. They also said that we should have a different password for every "log in" site we visit. I had been using the same pass word and have not been logging out. I will change my pass words and start logging out now. I have anti virus software that I thought would protect my computer from spy ware. But, this report said that that might not be enough protection if you remain "logged in" to a site."

I got tired of logging in everytime I visited a forum. I think a certain amount of spy ware will get to your computer no matter what kind of protection you have or what you do. I stay logged in to DU and one other forum I visit a lot. The ones I don't visit as much, I log in and out.

24. I'll tell you when to use it - when you're visiting another DUer and using their computer
GOPisEvil was at my place and used my computer to post at DU. While he was away from the computer I started posting embarassing posts under his name.

That'll teach him

I think I've also done that for Ramsey

On my own laptop, I don't bother.

27. I only log out if I'm on a public computer.
Apparently I forgot one day, and someone got on DU behind me. He PMed me to remind me to log out when I finish on the computer.

Cool to know there is someone at my school who uses DU.

28. Ever go to hotmail or yahoo mail on a public computer?
Chances are you'll go straight to someone's email account. Very dangerous. In Gmail they could set up a simple filter to forward all your messages to them, and they'll be able to spy on you indefinitely.

Be careful out there.
