Poll question: Should I buy a new car? |
|
Here's the deal. My minivan is fine. I'm just sick of driving it. I've had it for six years, it really wasn't the one *I* wanted, but it had a tow package which my husband wanted.
I've got my eye on a new Town and Country, but I really don't *need* it.
So, help me out, DU. Do I get it or not? I'm actually a little torn.

Let somebody else buy your old one, if it fine as you say then they will do well by it. You've had it six years and you're bored with it. This is natural. Knock yourself out.

 yes. He had a bass boat for a while I got him his current boat. It never occurred to me that the fact that he was so worn out hooking it up and launching it was related to his extreme heart disease.
Now, he just goes down to the dock, gets on and off he goes. He loves to fish. He's definitely a freeper.

7. Well, in the opinion of this total queer freeper... |
|
if you're going to be a freeper, it should be of the boat-owning fishing sort.

But when you say you don't really need it, is that just because your current minivan is still running ok or because perhaps you don't need a minivan?
Could you go with something more fuel efficent? I don't mean to be an environment nazi (I still have a minivan, which is paid off, but my other car which is used much more often is a Prius. We now use the minivan only when absolutely necessary like emergencies, or our camping trips when we carry a lot of gear.) just asking. Sometime people (including me) forget to ask some key questions and need outsiders to help.

6. Very fair question, but yes, I still need a van. |
|
My youngest is only 10 and I do a lot of car pooling with her. So, I guess that's my paltry contribution, I don't drive all the time, which is really why the car is in such good condition, but I do need the additional seating.
This will be my last one, though. If I keep it for six years, like the last one, she'll be old enough to drive herself so I won't need such a big car.

10. Ix-nay on the new Town and Country, buy a hybrid... |
|
:hi: I got rid of my mini van in May and bought a Ford Escape Hybrid. I'm getting 10-12 more MPG and is it A Lot more fun to drive. :-) And it holds lots of stuff, too. It easily fits myself, the hubby, and a 13 yr old, 11 yr old, and 4 yr old who is still in a car seat.
If you can afford the new van and you like it, why not.
