Going to Olive Garden for Lunch Today!!!
Not my choice; it's a work lunch for a friend who left the company and today is his last day.

But in keeping with the best DU Lounge traditions, I will be sure to breastfeed my Pit Bull in the smoking section while discussing Fat Actress and trying to ignore the screaming kids who will be running about the place.

Keep me in your prayers...

30. Jeebus, where were you guys in June???????
Edited on Fri Nov-17-06 04:00 PM by Radio_Lady
Feeling much better, thank you. Despite my illness, I think I'm addicted to this place.

Still lurking and trying to catch up on housework (how do two people use so many socks in just a week?)

Have a good lunch, RetroLounge! Please respond only if you get food poisoning.... which I'm sure you won't.

in Manhattan's Times Square to DUer Hissyspit one pleasant June day in 2006, and all HELL broke loose!

You know what a FOOD FIGHT is? This was a huge RESTAURANT FIGHT! And it wasn't nice at all...

Please let this one go, for the Democratic Underground's sake...

In peace,

Radio_Lady

38. When I eat at McDonald's, I don't think I'm Scottish!
Furthermore, when I go to an English or an Irish pub, nobody foists their heritage on me!

At Cafe Allegro, our local Italian restaurant in Tigard, Oregon, they have a multiracial staff -- Asian, black, white and mixed races. Nobody thinks they're Italian per se -- only if they say they are!

39. No, all I was saying is that Olive Garden is kinda fake Italian...
Edited on Sat Nov-18-06 03:25 PM by IntravenousDemilo
...as others in this thread have implied.

We have lots of Olive Gardens to avoid here in Toronto, but we also have another faux Italian chain called East Side Mario's that does goombah-style ads ("Hey Budda Boom, Budda Bing") with tarantella music. But neither the food nor the clientele tastes particularly Italian, only slightly so.

And I think it would be fun if McDonald's served haggis. I like haggis. But aside from the name, they've never really marketed the chain as being Scottish. Too bad, really. I might eat there otherwise.

BTW:

"Knock knock"
"Who's there?"
"Radio Lady"
"Radio Lady who?"
"Ah, you sound Swiss..."
