Anyone else here believe that John Lennon's studio voice sucked?
Edited on Fri Nov-17-06 03:39 PM by Montauk6
I ask this because, imho, Lennon had a GREAT, TERRIFIC natural singing voice but DAMN! His use of all that double-tracking, reverbs, echoing, yada yada just plain ruined it.

I'm listening to Guy James who just played "Power To The People," ARRRGH! I cringe every time I hear that song.

"Working Class Hero" beautiful performance, possibly his best. No tricks, no nothing, pure artistry.

At least with the Beatles, George Martin used some restraint with the effects. Granted, John was often double-tracked but it never got overboard like in his solo years.
