what color curtains are in your living room and why?
Edited on Sat Nov-18-06 01:49 AM by MoseyWalker
I'm serious.

I now have to deal with two curtains that don't match and a fruggin TOWEL over the blinds and window on the front door.

Any people here who thinks about these things?

2. Blue with white sheer curtains under.
Because they match.

Bonehead has blankets over the basement windows, though. I made him perfectly nice curtains...and he's got blankets.

:eyes:

10. Always!
i have what I think are great ideas, and they turn to poop. Big poop. And not the good kind! (where did that come from?)

thanks for the response, and I would like to see some samples of your work - just for the heck of it - my dog eats not only shoes but everything else that moves within a living space.

15. I have a question
I have old kind of starched cotton (?) off-white roller shades on many windows. Some are in very good shape, some have been exposed to the sun for years and have become brittle. Is it still possible to get cloth (not vinyl) roller shades? I don't like the fancy ones with big metal rollers and "clutches", and metal bead pull cords at one side.

19. Yes. Hunter Douglas makes some good ones
But because of using fabric, these do have pull cords. Fabric tends to slip and is not as stable as vinyl, so having shades made of fabric really does require having a controlled roller that offers stability.

Here's a company that does make the spring-loaded fabric roller shade, but again, be aware that fabric does wrinkle over time as it rolls unless it's on a controlled (clutch) roller.

However, if you are crafty, you can make your own. But it does require having vinyl as the backing to keep the shade stable as it rolls up and down.
Here's a site that tells how:

7. We don't have any curtains in the living room.
No window dressing at all - the whole world can look in. We've been in this house six years, and kind of ran out of money after the first couple of months, and figured out that we could wait on some items. We may get some kind of roll-up thing soon if we can agree on a style.

Why? Because that's what the landlord installed.

14. Mine are burgundy, green, and a golden beige striped.
I chose them because a) they go with the area rug in the living room, and b) I love those colors. Here's a picture of part of the living room. You can kind of tell what they look like.

I love the feeling of being wrapped in comfort in a room, and these curtains definitely add to that feeling for me.

20. We don't have curtains. The living room has nice arching windows and we only have 1 neighbor.
Honestly, even in my bedroom, the blinds are only down on the rare days that I'm hungover.

So I can't really help you much.

21. I have these awful paper bag brown curtains
I hate them, but I can't change them becasue I live in a furnished appartment. My living room is either in rust orange or pink, according to the time of year. I know that sounds awful, but I use Oriental rugs and scarves to decorate, and it looks quite nice. Anyway, the curtains neither match nor clash, but I would really love to change them.
