What the &#($&@# hell?!
Last night my sister goes out to a club with a couple of girlfriends, they get pretty drunk, and her friends get into a fight with some other girls. My sisters friends got their asses kicked, and the others got kicked out.
As my sister and her friends are leaving the club, meeting their ride in the parking lot, the girl from the fight is in her car, waiting for them, and RUNS DOWN my sisters two girlfriends. My sister was further off to the side and jumped out of the way.
THEN, the one girl is unconscious, when she comes to she refuses to go to hospital, and still refuses. AND none of them want to press charges.
Like, attempted murder? Hello?

This is just fucked up. I don't get it.

1. Jesus.
Why the hell don't they want to press charges?

2. I have no clue
They're idiots? Who knows.

I pointed out to my sister that, if it was me and I didn't press charges, the next time that chick did something like that and actually killed someone, I'd feel responsible.

Gah.

3. We had a similar incident here.
Except the guy knocked his victim down, then turned his truck around and ran over the two good Samaritans who ran out to try to help the first guy. The two bystanders were brothers. The first one was killed and I think the other left paralyzed. The person actually involved in the bar fight was hurt that bad.

What's with all the bar fights, anyways? It's become a fad.

5. Here's what's with all the bar fights:

There is a certain way to run a bar. This concept works whether it's a strip club or a country bar or a hip hop club or a tech place. OR a neighborhood we-have-a-band-one-day-and-a-dj-the-next.

THE BOUNCERS. IN tandem with the DJ. HAVE TO KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING. ANYONE who says that bouncing is NOT a psychological job is an idiot, and those that hire idiots are the reason crap like this happens. Some dumbass gets it in his head that he knows how to run a bar and can just hire anyone who looks capeable to do security. Eventually, something like this happens, and then the owner wonders why. I have met many bouncers & security people in my time. It is something, like other jobs, that either you "get"; or you never understand the reality underneath the "glamour".

The dj has to know when to play what, how to gage the mood of the crowd, how to build up the energy, how to sustain it, how to level it out; how to calm it down. Husband is always talking to me about this. He also needs security that are paying attention to him and what he is doing, and are on his wavelength; working with each other in this capacity is key.

The other reason this kind of thing is happening, I believe, has nothing to do with either of these things. I think because of the imposter's reign, many people are angry and frustrated. This is the way they show it. The turnover we experienced could not have come at a better time--for I truly think people will soon explode from frustration.

What I've written is a VERY simplistic overview of the issues of experienced bouncers/security personnell and djs, but that's not what this thread is about. Someday, I'm going to bring these issues to the forefront.

I am sorry that this happened to people you both care so much about.

6. Well I gotta disagree...

I've worked in bars with shitty bouncers (and no bouncers), been a DJ, and never ever had shit like this happen. Sure the odd little kerfuffle but NOTHING on the scale of the fights these girls get involved in.

And for me, at least, I live in Canada, so the American government plays an even smaller role in fights that happen in bars. I don't get it though. Seems like no matter where these kids go there are fights happening every other weekend.

Bizarro.

7. Mmm..
I don't think that means it's not the reason....and other factors also play into it..what kind of clientele the bar attracts/where it is located; maybe your owners had a good handle on things; I'd be willing to bet as a dj you may have had the very instincts that I spoke about, and not been aware of it.

I have one other theory about why this happens a lot too, but I am reluctant to post it.

Also, sometimes I believe some people's energy is such that they just attract it. Unkowingly. Please, no offense.

Peace.

10. Ummm...
The first part of your post does nothing to explain what's with the bar fights.

15. Makes sense.
While infuriating at the beginning, Nickleback's repetitiveness would probably have a tendency to act as a sort of sedative after a song or two.

14. Sounds familiar...
It sounds like a stupid violent teen movie.

Scary how art imitates life(or is it the other way around?)

16. I went to a bar once
and puked all over the sidewalk in front as I was leaving.

Too bad your sister and her friends couldnt learn from my mistakes because I've never been back to a bar since.

I thought horking up wild turkey and nachos was significantly not-fun, but hit-and-run certainly takes the cake!

I hope they recover and develop a keen appreciation for monopoly with friends or something.
