Tim Burton is a genius!
I just watched Big Fish and I must say that I was really moved...

Tim Burton is really an artist, and I really can't say the same

about the vast majority of directors in Hollywood.

At the end of the movie I cried, the story was so good and so tragic and

at the same time funny and wonderful...

There are a couple of Burton's movies that I haven seen like

The Corpse Bride which seems like a very good animation movie,

like The Nightmare Before Christmas (Witch I loved).

What is the Tim Burton movie that you enjoyed the most ?

PS: Tonight I met my little nephew for the first time...

He's 3 months old and I was very moved...

1. Big Fish!
That is one of the most charming movies I have seen. The only others that have fit in that category lately for me are Amelie and Everything is Illuminated.

I can't think of a Burton movie I haven't liked, but Big Fish was an absolute work of art.

15. Everything Is Illuminated---WONDERFUL movie
I got it after seeing the trailer online, and I don't think I've laughed so hard and cried so bitterly over a movie in years. Really--it's charming and funny and light when it needs to be, but shatters your heart when you least expect it.

Everyone should see that movie.

35. Great little film.
And, if by chance, you haven't seen Amelie yet, you should check it out. If you like Big Fish and Illuminated, you will like Amelie.

3. I loved Big Fish and The Corpse Bride. Burton is a genius --
but he was off his mark with the Willie Wonka movie... Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! Big disappointment, at least for me.

12. Yah, for Sleepy Hollow!
I loved how he drained a lot of the color out of the film to add to the awesome atmosphere and mood. Johnny Depp's interpretation of Ichabod was priceless! :D

24. Have you ever checked out the director's commentary on the PeeWee DVD?
It's pretty much just Tim Burton and Paul Reubens shooting the shit with each other as it goes from scene to scene, and it's HILARIOUS.

about two, maybe three weeks ago. Unbelievable. You should check it out and see if is is making a run in your area. Definately worth the night out.

26. As a director, Burton is a cultishly over-praised hack (warning: RANT)

He's got a skilled eye as an art designer, but his films are almost without exception vapid snoozefests whose only watchable moments come from the skilled efforts of talented performers. So I guess I'll also give him credit for knowing which actors to pick.

Sorry, but he's never done anything really innovative or ground-breaking. His real hackiness started with 1989's Batman, which (excluding its awful sequels) may just distinguish itself as the worst major superhero film of all time.

If you took Johnny Depp out of Burton's stable of actors, the entire watchable portion of Burton's films could be summed up in five words: Martin Landau and Ewan MacGregor.

YMMV, of course...

27. You even feel that way about his animated films?
He's done some real sinkers in live action (Pee Wee and Beetlejuice are exceptions), but I've found his animated films highly innovative and charming.

30. Yes, alas
I haven't seen Corpse Bride, but Nightmare didn't appear to elevate the artform (animation) in any great way. It was just an extension of stuff that had been done for 70+ years by that point, and I found the story to be ultra-linear.
