Has anybody seen the movie Babel?
with Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchette, Gael Garcia Bernal etc...

I saw it last night, and maybe it was because I had barely eaten all day and had way too much caffeine, but I was an anxious, stressed out mess by the time the movie ended. I found it very tedious and exhausting (way too long, scenes dragged on forever, a lot of trouble caused by carelessness and stupidity.)

There were a lot of interesting themes that are relevant today: Illegal immigration, social alienation, our hair trigger responses to supposed terrorism, etc. and they were presented in such a way so that it put a personal face on all the "bogeymen" out there, but there were also a lot of things that bothered me in the film as well.

What did you think?

4. Not really, much more intense but not as much charachter devel-
opment. I think it Babel is probably a better movie than Crash in some ways, but you don't really devlop an understanding of the main characters (or a liking)in Babel because everything they do seems so stupid and self-destructive.

There was something about Babel that really disturbed me and I can't figure out exactly why. It's nagging at me, which is why I posted this. I wanted to see maybe if someone else could put it into words for me, because I can't adequately describe why it bothered me so much.

7. As Briarius said about the Matrix...
"It's one of those movies where you expect to walk outside and find the sky is purple."

It just forces you to question some of your basic assumptions about life and reality, I think.

5. It's probably worth seeing - my friend really liked it.
However it's very long and, in my opinion, badly in need of editing. Let me know what you think after you see it.
