Mom's Health Takes A Turn For The Worse
You know, I think I could handle this if only she hadn't been so stubbornly stupid. *sigh*

She had a chemical stress test today, and now her "bad leg" (the one with the sore on it that won't heal) is swollen and inflamed and she's running a fever. (For those who have no idea what I'm talking about--she's a heart patient with a 75% blockage in her femoral artery, and the circulation in her left leg is so reduced that her wounds can't heal)

She didn't go to the ER, though. She went home and took Motrin and WAITED. ARGH. She's running a fever, she has chills, and her leg is so swollen that she can't fit a shoe on that foot at all. Why the hell didn't she go to the ER earlier?

She seems to be under the impression that losing her leg below the knee is the worst-case scenario. No matter how many times I try to explain to her how serious a systemic infection would be, it's like she doesn't listen at all. So she'll probably be admitted tonight to start IV antibiotics, but she should have been there HOURS ago.

I think surviving all of her heart attacks/aneurysms/strokes/cancers has given her the false impression that she's immortal. If she survived a killer cancer just to go down to something like this, I swear my head will explode with grief and frustration. :(
