1. I heard last week that it was picked up for the full season...
I know it was in danger of being canceled a few weeks ago but it doesn't make much sense for them to pull the plug at this point

2. I hope what you heard last week is true.
After I saw that "Bartlet for America" poster, I'd just about sell my firstborn to Aaron Sorkin.

Okay, not really, but that guy rocks out loud. I'd love to meet that guy.

3. here's some info from wikipedia
On November 9, 2006, NBC announced that the show had been picked up for a full season, citing its favorable demographics as the reason.<13> According to NBC's press release: "Studio 60 has consistently delivered some of the highest audience concentrations among all primetime network series in such key upscale categories as adults 18-49 living in homes with $75,000-plus and $100,000-plus incomes and in homes where the head of household has four or more years of college."

looks like it's safe this season

:) I'm also quite glad that Studio 60 is sticking around for a while because it's one of the best shows on tv

12. Thank you for sharing this!
A friend and I love this show, and were in despair because we thought it was too smart, too hip, too "inside" to live.

:)

6. three people in my household have stopped watching it

Sorkin is so uneven. Some pieces are brilliant. Others are a waste of time. Character development is illogical. Dialogue is trite at times, incomprehensible at other times. Examples:

What was that stereotypical, shallow bit with John Goodman?! Did the small-town judge have to be such a redneck? That was lazy writing.

The blonde Christian. Her character is very poorly drawn. Sorkin just doesn't understand what the woman he's TRYING to portray would say and do.

The network exec. Another illogical portrayal. (I wonder how they are going to get around the fact that this actress is several months pregnant>!)

And the walking while talking! Agh! Just like West Wing. That's all Sorkin can think of when setting the dialogue or filling time, apparently. Have the characters walk around, talking loudly to each other but speaking face forward ten feet apart.

I'm through with it.

10. I don't think Sorkin writes female characters very well.
Sometimes, yes. But mostly I think he has trouble with the whole male/female dynamic. He'll get a nugget right, then drop it in the next episode (I'm going back to WW and Sports Night here). But I still like him. Even when his characters go on and on about stuff that doesn't seem to move the story anywhere.

Hated the John Goodman show. HATED it. But I'll watch as long as it's around.

18. Seriously??
I thought he wrote nearly every female on West Wing exceptionally well.

However, I'm not loving the female characters on Studio 60...

7. Reason for this is...
NBC is having problems with the ratings, they're a dismal third behind CBS and ABC. So anything getting even remotely good ratings NBC will kept around.

11. Seriously?
They're moving it to Thursdays to try and boost the ratings. Thursdays will now be a true "must see fun-ny teevee" night....Earl, The Office, Scrubs (hells yeah) and 30 Rock starting 11/30.

ABC, CBS Tie For Thursday Night, '30 Rock' Tanks
by Wayne Friedman, Monday, Nov 20, 2006 7:45 AM ET
NBC MAY BE COMING BACK on Sunday and Monday nights. But last Thursday was a reminder that the comeback trail is still a rocky one.

Its "30 Rock" comedy--the network's second program about a fictional late-night comedy sketch show--continued to under-perform on its new night. The show pulled in a 2.4 rating/6 share among 18-49 viewers, which is its season average.

The show was a super-size version, airing from 9:20 to 10:01 p.m. Its regular time slot will be at 9:30 p.m. following "Scrubs," which will move into the 9 p.m. period, starting in two weeks. Analysts give "30 Rock" until then to form a real determination for its future.

"30 Rock" also fared far worse than the show it replaced--"Deal or No Deal"--which has pulled in high 3 and low 4 ratings in the time period.

****************
However, You may be right, but it's looking like it's going to have do really well in the Thursday slot to bea ble to stay.

NBC orders more scripts for "30 Rock"

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - NBC has ordered three additional scripts of freshman comedy "30 Rock," which got off to a lackluster start despite critical praise.

The order follows a three-script pickup the show received last month, bringing the total to six additional scripts.

<snip>
"30 Rock" is one of three Nielsen-challenged new NBC series that received an order for three more scripts last month. The other two, the dramas "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" and "Friday Night Lights," have since been picked up for a full season.

Meanwhile, "30 Rock" and ABC's drama "The Nine" are the only two freshman series whose fate is still up in the air.

19. Thanks. That's too bad because the show is funny.
I have a higher appreciation for comedies that don't use laugh tracks.

15. same here - I tried for several weeks to like it, get interested..
.. but it just hasn't hooked me.

The first one I saw was the one with the baseball bat - the female character gave it to the Friends guy and the baseball player's number was on it. Then the two went back and forth, he got that other woman's boot, etc. Stupid annoying bullshit. BUT some of the other dialogue has been very witty and good.

I like the actors and some of it is entertaining, but I feel like I'm still giving it a chance. Frankly some of its just incomprehensible to me.
